Not really in GarageBand. You can try this. ua-cam.com/video/emYvG3jG3tU/v-deo.htmlsi=wOBmMFByCR7dbSk4 Or use Logic Pro. ua-cam.com/video/U8V1WdJn1co/v-deo.htmlsi=rRFfUndaGFNx66Ck
@@PeteJohnsMusic I actually realized with what you showed in this video when you have your tracks separated ie the snare, the kick etc you can then change the kit to whatever sound you want on that particular track. Lil hack I guess lol
Hey Pete, I've commented on your videos before, but just wanted to say thank you for your awesome guides. You and your videos, single handedly, have helped me with understanding Garageband's fearure and anything I wanted to know or wanted to do but couldn't figure out how to. And the beat sequencer was the lastest thing. I wanted to know how to increase the length of the sequence and your video had the answer again! Keep up the great work! By the way, a quick question . . . I've found with Garageband that I much prefer making songs in automatic mode, rather than using sections. I'm used to other apps where there aren't any sections and I much prefer it. I find sections, while convenient, to be awkward. Do you feel the same? Or do you prefer working with sections?
Also, one more thing that I haven't managed to find out. Is there any way of changing the starting note on the piano/keyboard screen? The fact that it's C is sometimes an issue. Earlier I wanted to record a melody in B, but as the starting note is C, I didn't have space. So I ended up recording it in E and then had to move the notes to B in the editor. So was wondering, is there a way of changing the starting note of the keyboard? Note; I'm using an iPhone
Thanks so much for the kind words. So, I often use sections. And often don’t. Depends on my general mood and the type of song. But when I’m writing a new song I’ll often just go automatic. What you can do is return and add in sections afterwards to help with arrangement and mixing. ua-cam.com/play/PLc8Xg_23Wa56T6CswSRUj6Vq-_giaRF1-.html&si=OCRoXRnrIBAL_nOp
So yes, you can engage scroll mode and scroll the keyboard so it has a different starting note. This. I doe has some details. This video has everything you need to know about keyboards. ua-cam.com/play/PLc8Xg_23Wa56T6CswSRUj6Vq-_giaRF1-.html&si=OCRoXRnrIBAL_nOp
@@PeteJohnsMusic thank you very much for the explaining about the keyboard, I can finally play melodies without having to play them in a different key and move the notes in a video. By the way, quick question . . . Not even sure how to search for this, but is there a way on Garageband to select notes of a melody and automatically randomise different velocities to give it a less ridgid computer feel and make it sound like it's actually being played by someone. I know you can adjust notes individually but was just wondering if there was a way to highlight the notes you want and chose either presets or randomise the velocity of the notes?

I just made a song and posted it today! I enjoy this free app on my phone lol
Nice!!
Nice one, Pete.
Cheers!
Thank you for this. Is it possible to have verse/chorus patterns and place them in the timeline?

I wish you could make your own custom kits with samples:(
Yeah would be cool. Logic Pro has some more functionality. logicipad.com/
Cool Thanx Pete
You’re very welcome my friend. I hope you get value from the other videos here on the channel and consider subscribing. 👍
Is there a way to choose different parts from different kits to make your own?

On iPhone I can't find where to select the kit.
Tap in the top left drop down arrow and you can select there.

No thanks. Try GarageBand or Bandlab. They’re both free and amazing.
