Is it possible to start the day at 9am by visiting Herculaneum (2 hours), follows by a bus to Mt. Vesuvius (2-3 hours), then a bus to Pompei (2 hours)? I would also like to know, approximately, the walking time (or distance in km) from the bus station to the top of Mt. Vesuvius. Will you be able to see the crater? Thanks and great video!
Let's see.. The Vesuvius walking time isn't too bad - maybe 2 hours max in total. And you can see the crater but it's not really much to see in there to be honest! I think doing Herculaneum, Vesuvius and Pompeii in one day is hard to do while relying on public transport, since there will be delays while waiting for the bus etc. I felt like I barely had enough time for two of them (but then again, I was filming as well). So it's doable...but it would require a lot of perfect timing with transports, and just two hours Pompeii and Herculaneum will feel a bit stressed... Maybe a tour might be preferable, since then the transportation will be arranged?
The bus stops exactly by the volcano, but then there's a pretty long walk up the volcano. And there's a lot of walking at Pompeii as well, in case you're planning to go there. I hope you can manage - but be prepared that it might take a lot of time, and make sure you have a walking staff or such things if you plan on doing it!

That's really difficult to say! Depends a lot if you feel like it's worth it to you. For me, I actually had an Interrail pass so I would have done it if I had more time.
Hmm... I think I'd skip the skip-the-line tickets either way. I was there in June, and there were no problems at all with queues. So yeah, it should be feasible. But I'd make it a very early start!
Time is a bit hard to measure since I was stopping and filming at the same time, but I'd say like 30 minutes to an hour to walk up. It's really not far at all.
I am planning on getting a guided 2 hour tour with an archaeologist to soak in the fascinating history of Pompeii, but will stay in Pompeii after the tour to go at my own pace, get my pictures, and see more places that the tour couldn't cover. But the key will be having a tour that I meet at Pompeii Scavi and not in Naples/Rome, etc., so I don't depend on them for a ride and don't have to rush out afterwards.

If so do you recommend prebooking a ticket or will there be no major lines of people? I'm also thinking about going to Procida and Ischia islands but finding the boat to get there is a real pain, everything seems to be so disorginized here in Naples...
@@jesuschrist2268 Sorry, never visited the palace or those islands. I was on a really quick trip through Naples, and just saw Capri aside from Pompeii / Vesuvius. It sounds like you'll see a lot more than I did actually :D
@@ThreeStarVagabond Well I have an unsure pleasure of living in Naples for a time so we can allow ourselves to see much more. Last question. Is Vesuvio open for the entire day (night included)? Because on Google Maps in says that it is but when I do a search it says it's only open during daylight hours
@@jesuschrist2268 I see! Well better make the most of it then at least :D Hmm... Well... I guess technically you could probably stay on the volcano. But the thing is, it's far away from everything - so there'd be hours and hours to walk to the nearest town.
Great video. What’s a legit site to buy the tickets to Pompeii?
Thanks! I made a sticky comment with some links, and this one should work: www.ticketone.it/en/artist/scavi-pompei/parco-archeologico-di-pompei-988882/
Could you provide links to the sites you brought the tickets from? I don't know where to buy them from and which ones, as there are multiple websites.
It's in a pinned comment that I added when posting the video. Maybe I forgot to pin back then? Either way, it's pinned now at least!
Hi, would you no when the last bus from Vesuvius to Pompeii is, or how often they run 😊
It seems to be 16.05 that the last bus leaves, but I personally would like a bit of margin!
Bra mic! Vad använder du för miclösning?
Tackar!
Pompeii: www.ticketone.it/en/artist/scavi-pompei/parco-archeologico-di-pompei-988882/
Vesuvius: www.vivaticket.com/it/ticket/visita-guidata-al-gran-cono-del-vesuvio/79785
Can you add the link where to buy the ticket online? I can only find the tour
I added some links in a pinned comment, but it should be these ones:
Pompeii: www.ticketone.it/en/artist/scavi-pompei/parco-archeologico-di-pompei-988882/
Vesuvius: www.vivaticket.com/it/ticket/visita-guidata-al-gran-cono-del-vesuvio/79785
How long is the walk up and down vesuvius please?
Not that long to be honest. Much less than an hour, and the road was very smooth (but gravely).
How long did it take to walk from the bus to the top of vesuvious?
I don't know for sure since I was filming and stopping all the time. But I think half an hour of brisk walking maybe!
@@ThreeStarVagabond ok, not too long, im planning on doing this in nov, i was curious how long it took to go to the top, thanks for the tips in the video
@@specfu Hope it helps! And November will certainly be less hot :)
Is it worth paying for the train ticket from Naples twice so you can do Pompei one day and Vesuvius a different day?
That's really difficult to say! Depends a lot if you feel like it's worth it to you. For me, I actually had an Interrail pass so I would have done it if I had more time.
Pompeii was ancient Las Vegas.
Haha well put!
Do you think it's possible to visit Pompeii in half a day without the skip-the-line ticket on July ?
Hmm... I think I'd skip the skip-the-line tickets either way. I was there in June, and there were no problems at all with queues. So yeah, it should be feasible. But I'd make it a very early start!
@@ThreeStarVagabond thank you !!
You never told us how long the walk is up to the top of Mount Vesuvius, distance and time please?
Time is a bit hard to measure since I was stopping and filming at the same time, but I'd say like 30 minutes to an hour to walk up. It's really not far at all.
@@ThreeStarVagabond Awesome, Thank you.
just curious, do you travel full time?
Haha no no, this is just stuff I did on my summer vacation!

All I can say is don’t get a guided tour they drag you round there as quick as possible!! Ruined it for me
Happy to hear that I didn't miss out on much by skipping one! But I think some people really appreciate taking it slow like that - to each their own
They did the same to me in roman forum. All of the boring history that you are not listening to with no time for sightseeing or pictures..
I am planning on getting a guided 2 hour tour with an archaeologist to soak in the fascinating history of Pompeii, but will stay in Pompeii after the tour to go at my own pace, get my pictures, and see more places that the tour couldn't cover. But the key will be having a tour that I meet at Pompeii Scavi and not in Naples/Rome, etc., so I don't depend on them for a ride and don't have to rush out afterwards.

why be in such a hurry?
Some people are just too restless! And it's really hard to choose which one to visit
Thank you, very useful.👍
Happy to hear that! Thanks :D
