FIGHT OF THE CENTURY ‘ CROWD OF THE CENTURY ALSO WHAT A SUPER GREAT FIGHT TRUE CHAMPS BUT BOBBY WAS JUST EXCEPTIONALLY INSANE BOXER 🥊WITH A LOT OF HEART R.I.P BOBBY
When I saw this fight in 1982 I said in my head, "This is one of the greatest fights of all times." Bobby was a real hero to us in the Sacramento area. He was the kind of a fighter that just would not quit. That would hurt him later in his life. I watched him his whole career and what a magnificent career it was. So many classic fights. IMO this fight and a few of his other ones will live on in the future as some of the greatest ever. Bobby represented for his family, himself and all Chicanos. He sure deserves to RIP. A real champion. 15-round fights were normal in those days. Thank God they brought it down to 12. A lot of fighters lost a lot of themselves in those extra 3 rounds.
They don't make 'em like this anymore. FOTY justly deserved. I'm an Angeleno from back in the day - Bobby was a fave in LA and had a HUGE fan base. I wish he could have held it together outside of the ring. But inside of it, there can be no doubt he had it. As Garret Ramirez put it so on point, that thing they call "heart" is defined here. And Bazooka - a tip of the hat and thanks for this masterpiece. RIP Bobby, Cali boy forever.
This is wasn't a fight, this was a WAR! One of the fights that inspired me in my amatuer boxing career as a young boy. For sure of the thee GOAT 15 round non stop battles!!
Chacón teaching right-handed boxers how to fight a lefty, right hand first then whatever after. NO edge from a lefty against a right-handed, just have to fight the right way; I love this
But in all fairness, a fast straight right lead is also a good punch from an orthodox fighter against a South paw, only problem is if it isn't fast enough, or you don't connect, you're walking right into the South paws power shot...
One of my all-time favorite fights I remember it like yesterday haven’t watch this in 30 years. Bobby Chacon is one of the greatest boxers that I’ve witnessed. Took too much punishment but he had a great leg movement to keep him alive and all these fights that he’s been in !The experts never give him his credit for being a master boxer. Sometimes he remind me of Willie pep in and out with those legs. Rest in peace Bobby you are a great champion.
I lived just north of Sacramento and Bobby Chacon was our hero. I remember watching this fight, and thinking at the time that I was watching one of the greatest fights I had ever seen. My first love was Ali, of course and I didn't miss one of his fights. But the heavyweights could end it with one punch. With the featherweights there was a lot more boxing and banging. Great fight and RIP Bobby. You are a warrior and always will be. Bazooka (what a nickname) I hope you're still alive. You could sure take a punch and throw one, too.
These fights bring back so many memories of my childhood. Before pay-per-view, ABC, NBC, & CBS had these championship fights on Saturday afternoons. I remember watching this fight when they aired it on ABC. I was mesmerized then as I am now.
What a fight when fights were 15 rounds. Both guys gave and took a lot of punishment and the punch volume was incredible. Both had to be in tremendous shape. It looked like Bozooka was wilting starting in 13 and Chacon had him out on his feet twice but he held and survived. Hats off and much respect to both these warriors. Mani e Mano.
That thing they call " heart" is defined here. Pretty much in certain terms. Im sure God has been waiting to talk to you about this one, AND the great one vs Boza Edwards, as few had it as you did. You have the keys to the kingdom now..........
What a fight! Amazing performance by both men and the 13th round was epic! So sad these modern gladiators pay such a high price for the thrills they give us. IDK, I guess it is a barbaric sport given the tragically long list of fighters who end up broke, punch drunk and dead way before their time. But oh, what great sport it is. Everything on display here...heart, stamina, will, guts, desire...the list goes on and on!
Watching Chacon, Boza-Edwards, Limon, Castillo, makes it apparent just how special Alexis Arguello was......ko'd them ALL. Ramirez really surprised the shit out of him though.....but....nontitle 10 rounder not as big of a deal back then. Champs had to take nontitles even if unprepared...with no tape of the fighter and no game plan because of the small purses.....almost happened to Duran and Sanchez.
Yes yes yes, i saw this fight when i was 19 i believe it was the best fight i ever witnessed. And i saw a lot of the great ones back then and till now, not to mention that was a 15 rounder.
I remember this fight so well. It wasnt even in the TV gulde. It just said wide world of sports at 4:30 pm. I just was flipping the channels an d there it was. Only those lucky enough saw this incredible fight.
@@pasofino2199 Yes. I remember being home Saturday afternoon. It started at 4:30pm. Wide world of sports would be on every Saturday afternoon but the tv guide didn't even have it listed! It just had wide world of sports so I tuned in to see what it was and it was this fight. To this day I have seen many boxing matches but this is still my favorite. Caught me completely by surprised. I remember in school on Monday people talking about it but most didn't see it! On the sports radio they were saying one of the greatest fights ever that hardly anyone saw. I still get goosebumps watching this fight. This is the replay of the fight before Pintor Gomez live which was also a great fight.
Would be hard to find fighters today with condoning and professionalism .fighters of that era and before had true trainers.todays fighters with few exceptions are clowns and disrespectful wannabes..chacon and fighters of his era exemplified boxing....
He was on his back at 15 seconds left on the clock and was not up when there was 5 seconds left. That would have been a knock out if Chacon wouldn't have distracted the ref with jumping on the ropes, oh well great fight!
Bobby had lost his wife in the worst way before this happy time for him. My sister in law and her sister went to high school with Bobby's wife Val and they were not surprised when she took her own life. I've have blamed myself for my own son's suicide, and it's hard not to do so.
Heard about this fight for years my father and older cousins always said this was one of the greatest fight you will ever see
JRE and Teddy Atlas brought me here.
Hilarious! Me too!
Haha me too
Me too. I'm not disappointed. Wow!
Same
Same!
bobby was one of the toughest fighters ever.
It can't be echoed enough. They really just don't make them like this anymore. Thank you, gentlemen.
Chacon's wife had just commided suicide and Limon made nasty remarks, he got what he was asking for
Amazing fight!! So sad how these punches affected Bobby Chacon in later life. Rest in peace, Champ!!
FIGHT OF THE CENTURY ‘ CROWD OF THE CENTURY ALSO WHAT A SUPER GREAT FIGHT TRUE CHAMPS BUT BOBBY WAS JUST EXCEPTIONALLY INSANE BOXER 🥊WITH A LOT OF HEART R.I.P BOBBY

Truly a great Era of boxing. It was an epic battle of two true warriors.

I saw this on TV in '82 and never forgot it. Today I see it for the 2nd time thanks to
Юрий Бельчев and UA-cam. A fight no fan should be unaware of.
Los brutales golpes que les dio Arguello los afecto a añmbos

I WAS THERE. WHAT A FIGHT.
Me too!

Bobby Chacon is a Legend they don’t make them like that anymore
Wow!!! That crowd during and especially after round 9 was roaring. It was like a Roman Coliseum.

This fight has lost nothing since I seen it as it was happening! When REAL champions fought.
FINALLY WON A WORLD TITLE. IT'S ALL WORTH IT NOW.
Actually that was his second World Title.

Chacon, Limon and Boza-Edwards the 3 little Kings of the early 80s
Watching Chacon, Boza-Edwards, Limon, Castillo, makes it apparent just how special Alexis Arguello was......ko'd them ALL.
