  • After a half-year hiatus, I finally return to model videos with Eduard's 1/48 scale I-16. This project was actually started almost two years ago- I built the cockpit and sealed the fuselage, and then decided I don't like soviet stuff and put it in a box for two years. Then I found a decal sheet for a Japanese research example, and decided it was the perfect project to get back into the flow of things.

    As usual, I upload in 1080p. If you are seeing it in low quality be sure to manually change it.

      Hi waggish! could you give me some tips on my new video? I think it is an improvement over the FW-190 video I released that I had you look at.

      I always have been a fan of the I-16, I think she looks best in lighter tones. Those white-washed ones are nice as well.

    Looks great, I'll be getting back to modelling soon as well. It has been quite a while since school has been a hassle the past few weeks.

    Great video mate. I am building this kit at the moment too. My video build is probably going to go up in a week or two.

    Welcome back man, great work with the i-16. I was also like you about Soviet aircraft, I wouldn't even go close to one, but eventually I opened my heart to them and got some yaks and lavockins and I was surprised how tiny they are compared to US fighters, but to each his own; anyways welcome back and keep up the great work

    That looks pretty neat. I didn't know the Japanese had one.

      I didnt know either, until I started hunting for non-soviet decal options.

    Yep, the left wing is a bitch. That's why I have to look for a build. Maybe one have to squeeze the wing a bit to a proper shape with the hull. Nice job btw.

    Didn't know the IJN had tested a Type 18. When was it captured? Great build.

      @@TheWaggishAmerican That was a type 10, quite differente from the Eduard kit. And the paint job they applied was the IJA grey then in use, much cooler in hue than the IJN. But a great build nonetheless.

      @@The_Modeling_Underdog Luckily the Eduard kit includes most of the parts necessary to make just about any I-16 model, so I diverged from the instructions a bit and got it closer. The kit didn't include a telescopic sight, so that was a piece of stretched sprue and drilled out a hole in the windscreen. I do wish I had nabbed a better color, but I settled for what was quicker this time. My priority with this thing was to get it done and look nice rather than be accurate.

    Looks great in Japanese colours, nice wips t the start too and it's killing me that I've seen that twin engines one with the short fuselage before but I can't remember what it is.

    Good to see you back! It has been awhile. Wondered why you used Japanese music for a Russian plane. Nice surprise with the Japanese color scheme!

    • @TheWaggishAmerican
      @TheWaggishAmerican  4 роки тому

      I generally try to tailor the music to the country operating the aircraft, not the country of manufacture. Sometimes I think I should change that policy... finding a soundtrack for the Swiss P-51 is going to be a nightmare!
