it's a sharpened skill.. she has to use muscles in her larynx as low as they can go.. and it hurts her, a lot. She speaks with the top of her larynx for a reason. No one sounds like that naturally.

For those not musically trained, this is what changing octaves (voice-pitch) looks like. There are 8 octaves in music, professional singers can change their octaves to better suit a song. For reference, Mariah Carey is considered one of the greats because she can switch between 5 octave range
