The only way to evolve monsters is by using items, they dont evolve by leveling
And evolutions in this game arent upgrades, they just get a different set of skills and playstyle like a tank becoming a dps

You can easily find a team comp to accomplish anything in this game. I ran through my first play through pretty much exclusively with Goblins (Gobbys for my connoisseurs). Their unique auras give them all buffs at the start of each turn and in conjunction with the skills that let you stack different buffs, depending on what Gobbys you bring you can have 3 barrier buffs, 3 Glory Buffs, 3 Might buffs and 3 Sorcery buffs while also having 1 of every other buff.

Unique auras arent exclusive to a single monster, they are called unique because they dont stack unlike other auras

Your doing very well so far, and I am very happy for you, the Mad Eye is a very useful monster to have for sure, Mad Eyes do a very goof job in battling, since we saw what the Mad Eye can do, this monster 100% a very useful monster to have fight in battle.
