  • Today is a big walking day, and what better way to see a city like Istanbul than getting outside and exploring by foot!
I start off the day in Sultanahmet Square, the Hagia Sophia in front of me, and Sultanahmet behind me, and find a little street corn stand for my first food choice of the day, and at around $1, it’s a hell of a bargain! From there, a walk to the Grand Bazaar, the biggest covered market in the world, home to countless shops of spices, coins, rugs, antiques and practically anything else you can think of.
At this point I’ve had some decent success finding good food, a couple of Doner kebabs to fill me up, but I’ve still got room for dessert, and in this case, it’ll be in the form of some sugar soaked Lokmas, only $1.65 (USD). From here I head down to the water front, try a couple of juices and make my way back to my hostel, which is where I leave off in the video. But don’t worry, next episode I’ll be heading to Cappadocia, by far my favourite stop in Turkey so stay tuned!

Good day young fella. I think you have mistaken travelling around the world with grazing your way across the world 😂🤣.had supper with your dad last night in Chelmsford. I know where you get your appetite. Loving your videos . U.R.

I definitely get the appetite from him! And I’m glad for it too, just means I can try a lot more amazing foods as I travel, although I have paid the price with a recent bout of food poisoning in India… but I’ll persevere!

hi. ayran drink you had is literally yogurt, salt and water. for the lokma, greeks say its originated in greece but word lokma means bite in both turkish and arabic while greek word loukmades doesnt mean anything in greek. so if it is greek, really weird for them to give it a turkish/arabic name :) (ps: if you wanted to explore more turkish food, watch luke martin's 1 hour long turkish food tour video on youtube)

The Ayran was delicious, I drank a lot more of it during my time in Turkey, mostly the cups you can buy at the store. It sounds to me like Lokma must be a Turkish or Arabic food then! I’ll have to check out his video for some recommendations for next time
