Visiting the FANCIEST McDonald's - Built Inside a 170-Year-Old Mansion!

- Today we are in the town of Freeport, Maine, most notably the home of LL Bean, but it's also where the fanciest looking McDonald's we've ever seen is located, also known as the Colonial McDonalds. When McDonald's wanted to open a restaurant in Freeport, they had to adhere to their strict building design regulations, so they opted to purchase the Gore House, a Victorian home built in 1850. They also weren't allowed to construct their famous golden arches, making this truly one of the classiest-looking McDonald's around.

I go to this McDonald's every week, best McDonald's ever ....nice staff! Love the McMansion
If you ever find yourself back on Long Island, there's a McDonald's in a mansion built in 1795 called the Denton House in New Hyde Park, NY. It's a similar design to this (very laid back, modern, and minimal McDonald's golden arches decor). Everyone on Long Island calls it the McMansion!
We wanted to stop there but ran out of time! Definitely want to check it out next time. I love that it's referred to as McMansion!
H
I was there last week and i was shocked. It looks more like a mansion then a McDonald's
What an awesome McDonald's, the building is so beautiful.
It really is one of the coolest McDonald's!
It’s in the historic district 1/2 upstairs can be opened for more dining and the other half is a district office for the owner of this McD’s
This one is on our "to go-to" list. Found out about a few years ago and immediately wrote it down.
It would be great if more fast-food places would do things like this...it would help preserve historic buildings.
I'm like you....I want to know what is upstairs!!! I'm guessing and office or two but there has to be more.
It's interesting and pretty cool. It would have been neat if they had the lobster roll still.
There is another one in New York that has a similar old timey fancy vibe that we missed. I think it would be neat if more fast food places did incorporate into older buildings like this too!
I live in Maine (have my whole life) and when McDonald's did do lobster rolls they weren't bad..... better than some I've had at fairs or festivals. BTW, Reds eats is over rated, good call driving by. If you make it back, "Archers on the Pier" in Rickland is really good, she beat Bobby Flay with her lobster BLT and the outside dining is literally on the pier.
I visited this McDonald's in 2003! 😊
Lmao u can def tell she was blown by the lobster roll. I feel that tho.
3:39 That boot is not the bootmobile. The bootmobile is shorter.
i love it here i live it for my whole life and its very cool
They use the upstairs for birthday parties and meetings. I worked there when I was 14.
I always eat the top of my breakfast sandwiches first too. Always have... always will.
Cara has found a kindred spirit!
So interesting! Love it 🥰❤️
Thanks!

Someone somewhere has to also eat it weird like me. Still waiting to find them... lol
Hope you are enjoying our state
I think you should move to Maine..just saying🙃🙂
We loved Maine! I would consider living there. 🤔
Anyone else here because they are studying for their real estate license and learning about aesthetic zoning? 😄 This McDonald's is an example they gave!
No nobody at all.
BROOO
I live there and I never new when I went there every Friday 150 years of a fanciest mcdonalds😭😭😭😭😭
The building has been there for a long time.
McAwesome🕶🍔🍟
🍟
I would like to see what’s upstairs curious
I'm curious too!
its storage! there’s two ways to access the upstairs: a staircase by the front door seen as decoration, and a pull down staircase accessed from the storage room in the back. Up the original staircase is where all the old tables from the original house are stored, it hasn’t been renovated at all there, it’s carpeted like a bedroom with a closet which is now used to store employee uniforms. Through the pulldown staircase is roof access and more storage!
You guys forgot that it was also a dentist place
did you eat the McDonalds with your pinky out? 😉
lol we certainly should have
