Sort of what's going on now
Actually, the Epistle of James was written in part as a polemic (refutation) of the doctrine of justification by faith. (Compare James 2 with Romans 4). After Paul's ministry popularized the fact that Abraham was justified PRIOR to his being circumcised, the Pharisees and priests inside the Jerusalem church were incensed. They were sending out "missionaries" to all of Paul's churches teaching that you had to be circumcised in order to be saved. (See the Book of Galatians for details).
So, far from one of the earliest books of the New Testament, the Epistle of James was written sometime in the 50s or later. There is some question as to whether James actually wrote it or if it had been written by the religious leaders embedded in the Jerusalem church and just put James' name on it.
The Epistle of James hardly sounds "Christian". By that, I mean that it doesn't mention the crucifixion, the resurrection, it defines "pure religion" without mentioning Jesus, it only mentions the Holy Spirit in passing (by misquoting some alleged "scripture", which nobody can actually find. The Epistle doesn't mention "grace" (Greek: charis) or the word "gospel". It's hardly a Christian work.
If you read the Book of Acts, you notice that James doesn't say a word when the Jews had Paul arrested and dragged off to prison. He just seems to let it happen. Paul's arrest served to get him off the campaign trail while he languished in prison for years. That kind of served James' agenda - maybe just a coincidence.

I guess the speaker failed to mention how James didn't believe that Jesus was devine according to the didache writings. Also, how there was tension between James and Paul which is evidence by Paul's writings.

Finally!!! I too don't get why today, Paul is despised and James head of the Jerusalem Church , Law loving, grace doubting man is practically worshipped. Because people want to work to have an insurance policy it seems.../.But, "God will not share His g;lory (or His Son's with no man!_)
How could James not believe Yeshua wasnt divine when he saw the ressurected Jesus? What Gospel would James be preaching then?
The first sentence James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,....James calls Jesus adonia.In ancient Israel, in order to not accidentally break the commandment to not use Yahweh’s name carelessly (one of the Ten Commandments - Exodus 20:7), the ancient Jews would avoid saying “Yahweh,” even when reading Scripture, and would instead substitute it with adonia (Lord). They would do this in writing as well.
The word “lord” to the New Testament writers was a word to describe divinity as well. In other words, when the New Testament authors write that Jesus is “Lord,” they are saying Jesus is the God of Israel.
James no doubt believed in the deity of Yeshua. James was writing to his own church who already knew who Jesus was.
And Christians throughout history have noticed what may be a tension between Paul’s emphasis on salvation-by-faith-alone and James declaring “a person is justified by works and not by faith alone”, ...and this has been addressed by many, many Christian theologians and scholars over the centuries

Paul had tension with some Jewish believers in Jerusalem specifically the Pharisee believers of Yeshua with regards with the Gentiles relations with Torah and circumsion, not with christology. Earliest Jewish believers in Yeshua thought Yeshua was the highest ranking ANGEL.
James/jacob the justs/holy one of israel is the Messiah of the Jews he was from the seed/semen of Joseph he fulfilled all the writings and prophecies( from the seed of David, and etc) of the coming Messiahs/2 ( he was a Nazarite from birth/holy from birth,,jesus was not, he was a Nazarene it's not the same, not to mention Jews believe in two Messiahs King and priest, nobody talks about that!!) his tomb is right outside the Temple of Jerusalem ( not imaginarily disappeared in thin air / transcendent/ Christian Fables) remember the Creator anoints his chosen by priests with oil not with an angel and water ( the law of Moses and Christianity are two different beliefs/two different religions ).......

within the last 10 years I became a Bible expert, it was really easy especially when I found out the Bible is my afro heritage/hair-ra-tage, the history of my people from the beginning of time and the prophecy of their future............

Paul was a false apostle. He said saved by grace alone. James says faith without works is dead. You have to have works, people. This includes obeying the Law.

I'm the incarnation of James but since there's so many fakes these days few take me seriously. Those who do however, benefit greatly. Also there seems to be no room in modern religion for Truth. Beliefs, you worship.. not God. If Jesus himself came back, religions would shun him.

@@InfoArtistJK We can enter into heaven before death or after, there is little difference. I don't know what similarities we share I never met him, I just know I was him. Forgive everyone for everything and anything no matter what past present and future, it is one of the main keys to divinity. Along with stillness of the mind and surrendering, letting go of yourself, none of this is real as long as you believe it is real it will stand as a wall between you and the Truth.

All American religions are rotten and corrupt, I have no religion because the Truth does not fit into any of them. They are full to the brim with their own beliefs and opinions which they hold onto strongly, there is no room for fact where fiction reigns. God is real and every belief about him is wrong because a spec of dust compared to the sun is comparable to our current perception compared to the Truth. Anything we make up ourselves is very tiny and meaningless and judgements are a mirror reflection of yourself.. they have nothing to do with who or what you're casting them on, you can't see through another's eyes only your own.
