Good models cannot shoot into combat with other good models
when they both called the heroic march, the player with priority rolls 1 die on 1-3 it goes to evil and 4-6 goes to good. So Ducan's 5 would mean he got the first move. The tiebreaker you did only happens during the roll for priority at the start of the turn.

The unexpected deaths, and the bizzare instances where one little guy takes out a big character and becomes a folk hero are some of my favourite parts of the Middle Earth strategy battle game.
I once had one goblin archer roll supremely lucky and take out Elrond on his own, and earned his name in our club's mythos...The Legend of Nobshakka is still told in the halls of Moria.

Considering the zombies and kraken made it into the world war 2 games, I wouldn't be that surprised if Dad's Army becomes the other half of the Fellowship
This would be an incredible campaign. By the time you reach the two towers it's gonna be Militia Guardsman 3. who for some reason rolled so many 6's he became a protagonist after Legolas died.

That would be a very peter Jackson film moment.
In my mind he surfed down on a shield, but tripped and while flying through air, his arrow just casually hit a ringwraith to a weakspot in his armour and thus killed him. Of course, the hobbit would claim that he totally wanted to do that
Would be so cool to see someone like Pflax/Tom/Alex come in as Saruman for a cheeky threeway at some point
I always thought they should’ve had Farmer Maggot as part of the Fellowship. Can’t wait to see him show Sauron what for.
Pretty sure he does help them in the books rather than chasing them away

iirc Tom Bombadil thinks very highly of Farmer Maggot, that's got to count for something
@@Triceratopping Indeed! In the adventures of Tom Bombadil one of the poems therein describes old Tom going to visit Farmer Maggot, ultimately having a nice dinner and accompanying chat (before mysteriously disappearing in true Bombadil fashion of course).
That was an incredible story, please continue the campaign and also please find a hobbit sized robed figure for later battles, Frodo-Ring-Wraith must take the ring to Mordor for his new dark lord.
It's hilarious how hardcore the hobbits were. Completely changed the entire story immediately.
The Witch King of Angmar getting mauled to death by dogs has to be my favourite alternative canon of LOTR going

We need this to be a fully fledged campaign! I would love to see boromirs last stand be played out, find out which b-character replaces on of the hunter trio or what happens to golum now frodos no longer there to protect him from sam!

This would be such a fun campaign to watch, seeing the fallout of these events and mallet boy's corruption to the shadows after he was so tragically stabbed (shot) in the back

Holy crap this was so good! Sam becoming the new ring bearer after Frodo was skewered, avenging their best friend, and continuing on the journey in their legacy! The potential of Frodo COMING BACK as a ring wraith??? That'd be so cool.... Please continue this!!! Genuinely such a cool "how it could've happened" idea!

This was a truly awesome battle report. The Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game lends itself to grant a lot of cinematic and memorable moments during play and you guys play it very well. Would love to see a continuation.
Wild, just last night I was thinking "man I sure hope a new Game Night vid comes out soon", and much like a Wizard, it never arrives early nor late, but precisely when it intends to.
For all you looking for a full series of this, may I recommend "Escape from the Bloodkeep", which, surprisingly, also has the witch king nearly bested in single combat by sam's frying pan. I have two nickels.
Not only my favorite setting, but this is one of my absolute FAVORITE game systems of all time; it’s genuinely fun to play and feels so immersive and thematic. PLEASE play this more guys

This was a lot of fun. This is the way this kind of stuff is meant to be played. I really liked the rules being made on the fly to enhance the story.
Absolutely continue this I loved it, Sam as the true ringbearer is the perfect campaign being the true hero of the trilogy, I would love to see Frodo return as a Ringwraith for a final showdown at the end of the campaign lol

that was fun! although I think I'd prefer to see the success before the table talk telling us about it. Like the killing blow; the actual play clip was much more dramatic than the cold post-game reporting that took away any suspense of rolling

I've come back to watch this after seeing the "What If" Moria episode, which had me unable to breathe from laughing so hard. This series is EXCELLENT. Much joy.
The Hobbits just charging and all passing their morale saves the Ringwraiths was truly something.
I also want to see the mallet hobbit return on the side of darkness after being shot in the head.

I remember Ringwraiths used to (at least in the Two Towers edition of the game) have special rules for killing them - they had a frankly silly amount of Will points (seven, or ten for the Witch King) compared to the usual two or three for big characters. They could use it as normal (spells, mostly), but also lost one every time they were in a combat. If it hit zero, that was them done! I wonder if they still have that rule.
Also, turns out The Two Towers came out 20 years ago and oh no I'm old.
They still have the rule with a specific exception. If the one ring is on the board they dont spend the will.
I would love to see a full series of this.
I'd love to see more of these, I did a campaign like this as a teen once. I think I ended up replacing the entire Fellowship with random elves by a certain point.

This is really fun I love it. Lewis does a good job being the antagonist. It's a role that comes naturally to the pusher.
So if you were following the rules technically the hobbits couldn't shoot into combat because they're GOOD and only evil forces can but it made for a funny moment!

I absolutely love this! I actually use to do something similar, playing out the key fights in the lord of the rings storyline and see who would live and die. But since I only had a few models I could only do so many games. I hope you guys continue this series and I can't wait to see where this alternative story goes!

Imagine Glorfindel looking forward in time to prophesy the death of the Witch King, and foreseeing this complete mess as one of the greatest nightmares of the powers of darkness gets beaten up by some untrained halflings with a frying pan. He would have died laughing right there.
