Last year I met this terrible fear. It was like I disapeared. There was no me, nothing to hang on to. I was terrified. I became depressed for a while. But "I" got over it. You have to experience the fear to get rid of that also. After that there is nothing standing in the way between illusory self and nothingness.. or.. your true beingness. I now see that I really didnt exist. There was no real identity, It was imagination. Now there is nothingness, conciousness, whatever you want to call it.
Losing identity means replacing it with another identity. Whether that's a spiritual one or not, you will still be a human being living in a world looking for meaning.
Once you see your true nature, you don't have to search for any meaning. The internal "game" of life is just done then, and you return back to who you actually are.
@claudelebel55 me too! I just came across and I am so Grateful I did because I am experiencing this fear we are talking about. It feels very lonely when this is happening and I see my mind constantly wishing things where like they used to be in lala land, but then again its perfect that this is happening because I do want to live in that solid unmovable peace where I know my true and authentic self. Anything anyone would like to share with me I welcome! Thank you all
When adyashanti talks about us inventing a world of distractions a squirrel runs across the fence in the back ground to hammer home his point of distractions being everywhere. (2.45)
@squamish4244 I've been in that limbo rut for some time and it just seems to get deeper. Can't relate to much of anything or anyone, and like you mentioned a feeling that everything you were used to as being "you" just keeps dissolving. There's a certain amount of trust in wherever this is going, but also so much resistance. I wish you well...and all others feeling a little in the dark.
I can definately relate to what this guy is saying. The same thing happened to me. It felt like I was about to die but did not. I have not been the same since. It feels like hell on earth and downright terrifying. I can no longer cope.
Don't take anyones words for granted! Only the Truth shall set you free! You can easily test if he's is actually experiencing "oneness". Next time you see him ask him everything about your childhood memories. If he is one with you, he will have your memories. If he can't answer then he is not one with everything/one, is he? Void is not a big deal. It is not oneness... If it was anybody who have experienced void would know everything you do and have experienced... Ask anybody who has been in void or is in the void about you. Test it. See for yourself. Merry Christmas! ;o)
I can relate only too well to his words. I had a terrifying drug experience five years ago and nothing has been the same since. I saw the illusion of a separate self and it was totally overwhelming. I have had many experiences of sheer terror and panic since and almost constant anxiety and depression. Thankfully with the help of powerful healers and a disciplined meditation and yoga regime I am in the process of freeing myself from the terror, although I do not know what the future holds.
@@ivogody F*ck all has changed. Things have actually gotten _worse,_ honestly. I am going for a breakthrough procedure for my OCD later this year, I hope it works. Addiction also massively complicated things. I have no career, no relationship, no nothing. If you want to progress along the path, don't get hooked on drugs by a horrendously irresponsible doctor, don't develop kundalini syndrome and don't have preexisting OCD. And don't believe in Adyashanti's promises of enlightenment being 'just around the corner'. It ain't.
@@ivogody No. I have a combination of very serious conditions that go far beyond what advice like Adyashanti's can help with, and the problem is that he doesn't offer much in the way of what to actually _do._ If you're feeling fear daily non-stop, you probably have an anxiety disorder. What I would recommend is to educate yourself on basic meditation practice with some clear instructions, and start with mindfulness of breathing, mindfulness of thoughts, feelings and physical sensations, basic grounding practice. A vigorous exercise routine is also an effective way to combat anxiety. Inquiring into the source of the fear etc. can be done after you have developed a basic practice, otherwise your attention will be too scattered for that to be effective. If the fear is disabling or interfering with work, then medication can be helpful, even very helpful if you find the right kind, although that can be like throwing mud at a wall to see what will stick until you find the right one. Whatever you do, DON'T take benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan etc. - anything with their official name ending in "-pam", because those are very addictive and what f*cked me up. Stick with antidepressants. They are not addictive. If you can afford it, something like neurofeedback can be much more effective much faster than meditation. Neuroscience and technology is really starting to impact the field of mental well-being, and NeurOptimal is a type of neurofeedback that is available pretty much everywhere in the world. Doing neurofeedback AND meditation, exercise etc. can be like compounding the effect of meditation. Depending on where you live or the coverage you have, something like ketamine therapy may be available. It's a legal and mellow psychedelic, and has helped me a lot and relieves anxiety.
I think it is different for everyone. Some never do meditation, some meditate strictly for hours everyday, and then some do a little of both to reach it. I would say, just go your own way. Everyones path is unique anyway. If you want to try and meditate strictly, then try it. You want to try to do nothing?.. then do that. Follow that which you are naturally drawn to. Determination is very important. . And then again, Im noone special, just an ordinary guy. Like anyone here.
@ncripzx Certain thoughts became prime triggers for these experiences, such as of Nazi death camps or other instances of human cruelty and degradation, or hospital scenes, or images of torture or tragic death. Such triggers would also bubble up frequently in meditation. They have become less frequent and less severe. In addition, being suddenly introduced to the reality of no-self through a terrifying drug trip was like throwing myself into the deep end of the pool before I knew how to swim.
i have looked in to face of chaos and seen the chaos and it is beliefs system like governments, religion, good or or bad ,laws and prison. love will show you the truth and the truth will set you free from beliefs.
There is no one who can reach awakening because Illusory self can not follow there. It will be left behind. And then when "you" watch that which you thought was you, you realize that there was no real identity there and the one watching this illusory identity is no one. It's like a death. A death of illusory self. What is left is Nothingness. If you feel a fear of this, then that is good. Because you have to experience the fear to get rid of it. This fear is a curtain blocking your true self.
@ncripzx Speaking from my own experience, when you start to gain insight into how the self is a mental construct, you have not made contact with your primordial being yet and can begin to feel like you're dying or dissolving, or may lose control of everything at any moment. In my own case I also became hypersensitive to my own and others' limitations and weaknesses. These experiences cause explosions of panic, where the mind literally goes crazy with terror and I feel that life is unbearable.
DMT bong hits has this. the "ego death" high. the "everything is oneness" trip. some hallaucingenics do this to you due to the intense pineal gland activation.
@Atmaniceland 19 here and getting these weird feelings of non-self... of infinite being... feels like pure and utter freedom... then i struggle to get back there even tho i realise its only an instant away! grr lol
@asm1201 Do you see a way out of it? I do not want to go back either but I've put in a huge amount of work and seem to be stuck in a rut. It used to be terror now it's just depression and feeling blech. So many of the answers on here sound like cliched *I'm at peace with the universe* crap when really the people haven't experienced anything at all. I agree it is very lonely and my family can't possibly understand, they love me but treat me like a kid who talks nonsense and won't grow up.
I'm thinking about learning from Adyashanti and buying "falling into grace". But I just wana know if being "enlightened" is truly better than anything else. cheers

+optizap My godmother's dog actually has an ego-based identity! He usually lives in her house but sometimes she has a bad mood and puts him in his dog hotel apart from her house on the open air. Then when she brings him food he doesn't really want to eat, in fact he is not even coming out from his hotel! He's sittin' inside numb and angry with the protective behavior, refuses eating and so on! This type of protesting ends only when my godmother can't take it anymore and invites him back home again. After that he wears off his ego mask and becomes the person THAT HE REALLY IS IN HIS DEEP ESSENSE! So to say he is back to his realization as the egoless being! I assure U it is all true! No jokes!
