  • With little ones are under foot it can be hard to get anything done. When I really need to focus on teaching my older kids it can be really difficult if my toddler and preschooler are interrupting. For seven years I’ve had a baby, toddler, or preschooler nearby while trying to homeschool, so today I share my tips and ideas for keeping them entertained and busy while the rest of us work on school work.

Helen Caldicott, “Teachers, I believe are the most responsible and important members of society because their professional efforts affect the fate of the earth.” Teaching has always scared me…Teachers have the power to affect their minds. Producing young people for life-ready to achieve the life purpose on their life. Now, the world can be a nasty crazy place out there, we need a lot of courage and we need a lot of resilience after that, and we will fall down before we stand up… What really matters is the silence of the night in our conscience, when we are alone. We cannot control what happens but we can use what happens. We have so much reserves of love and support inside us, if we can just remember that in our mind and move on.

My kids are 5, twin (almost) 3yo and a 3mo. The busy bins are a GREAT idea! I do school during naptime. Its the only quiet time I get. lol. I do bible study during breakfast, and our read aloud during lunch. That way my "littles" (as I call them) get to hear them too. Do you have any tips on starting teaching twins? That's the one I'm starting to panic on.

I think I would treat them as separate students and tailor there work to their learning styles just as I would kids of different ages. But then anything that would overlap/work for both I would combine as group subjects just like with multiple ages.

Would you be willing to help me with homeschooling while my children are out of school because of closers. I did homeschool my 8 year for kindergarten and have been dabbling in getting back to it so with closers I dont want either of my kids to get behind I have an 8 year old she is second grade and a 4 year old she is preschool. I would so appreciate any and all advice you can give me.

I feel for all of you parents just thrown into this situation! I highly recommend reading a LOT aloud to your kids. Read above their reading level and read quality books. After, ask the simple question "tell me in your own words what you remember from what I just read" and let them take as long or short as they want to answer that question. Apart from reading, try the free online curriculum: allinonehomeschool.com I keep thinking that if I was in your shoes, I would pick my kids grade level, start midway through and just see how it goes. I do wish you the best!
