Ah man! This actually has a lot of potential, but sadly it is not realized. For starters, a U-boat refueling on the surface in daytime? Not likely, no U-boat commander would be dumb enough to do that. Or if they were, they would not survive their first patrol. Secondy, no U-boat commander would attack a Corvette with torpedoes. TWO torpedoes at that. The Type VIIC U-boat carried 14 torpedoes, and out of those 4 were for the aft tube. Every single torpedo was prescious, and a Corvette was a small escort ship. Third, no U-boat commander would reload torpedoes with enemy escorts around. Reloading torpedoes makes a lot of noise!
refueling on the surface not in the shipping lanes, routes travelled by ships across the atlantic. weather is overcast depends on the position in the atlantic if a plane can get that far. one plane must search, thousands of miles of ocean to find one ship/uboat. corvettes fire back at you, so safer to attack with torpedos as it was really hard to find a submerged uboat. a reloaded torpedo can be fired, an unloaded torpedo can not be fired. if a ship has a torpedo coming towards it, then the ship deals with the torpedo first, not so interested in attacking a uboat. sebastijanglozinic8630 no idea
A similar point is made in the original when Prochnow attacks the destroyer; the 2nd watch officer (Semmelrogge's character) considered it madness to do so (albeit in rough seas to boot).
I am not that familiar with ships silhouettes, but in my opinion they falsely identified merchant ship as corvette, to be able to sink it without breaking the order "not to engage unless necessary". Only a handful of sailors knew that ship isn't a corvette.
7:40 - Completely miscalculation here. 1700 meters distance to US corvette, torpedo speed 30 knots (55 kph = 15 m/sec) means 113 seconds. In fact no real chance to hit small ship as WW2 corvette.
The original Das Boot is a film that should be nearly 11 hours long from what I remember as a T.V series instead. One thing you may or may not know about the original film. They actually had original staff on set who built them for making every part of the set real as it was for the real crews. Even the training for the cast was so strict in the movements on diving while another ran through the open hatch by grabbing bulkhead swinging over the man on the ground. This type of man is something special knowing only they are the rescuers if they needed rescued! Still the same today no matter which navy it is. This is life and death for each and everyone if they are required to fire nuclear weapons then they will! They are some of the most watched people by their retrospective nations on the secrets they hold, as there is no secrets in such a confined area with mass destruction in the rear end. The TV series was actually really good. Splendid acting, pacing was excellent, uniforms, models, etc. But wow, the story was straight out of a fairy tale, and that ending? Ugh.
For someone who is familiar with the subject matter, this is simply an embarrassment. At 12:19, it's impossible for the Horchmaat to suddenly hear the entire convoy only after a freighter has been hit. Convoys never stopped but always had to keep moving. The convoy had to be heard from the beginning. At 6:17 it is obvious that the enemy's position is not right 30, but rather left 60. At 11:19 it is said that a shot at 300 meters is too risky, but they shoot anyway. In fact, this should not actually be successful because the torpedo is only armed after a distance of 300 meters. It is also strange that no one ever gives, repeats or executes commands to increase or decrease the boat's speed, even though the boat is clearly changing speed. Even when the boat dives in alarm at 14:13, nobody seems to be interested in the speed. At 11:13, even inexperienced commanders can see that the opponent's heading is not 80 degrees, but rather 60 degrees. An enemy speed of 17 knots is far too high for a large freighter in a convoy (probably 1942), 8-10 knots would be realistic. Only a small proportion of freighters can even manage such a speed, and then only for a short time, because far too much fuel is consumed. It becomes completely absurd at 12:42, when the Kaleun announces enemy position 0 degrees and targets a freighter that is clearly showing its broadside (probably enemy position left approx. 90 degrees). 0 degrees would mean that the freighter is heading directly towards the submarine. At 13:34, the submarine is also clearly not on a collision course with the destroyer. Good God, but this is an awful sequel to the original "Das Boot". The "American" corvette was in fact the Canadian HMCS SNOWBERRY. And far from being sunk during WWII, she survived and in fact sank U-536. If the U-boat was concerned about her contacting her fellow escorts, she failed miserably in doing so given how long it took them to eventually fire their torpedoes at them. And if SNOWBERRY had detected the U-boat, why did she then stooge about well in front instead of attacking? In the last scene, if a freighter had already been torpedoed, why wasn't the destroyer that almost hit them pinging with her asdic? What a bloody silly show this is.

C'est tiré de quel film ?
I don't understand your language..
@@muhammads.a.m4727 From what film ?
Sans bave, sans-Nazis -,, sans-Houston we have a problem -. Juste L'histoire. Comme vu du côté Allemand.
The second das boot was a politically correct mess.
too dark
