- The Cincinnati Bengals made some significant moves in both free agency and the 2024 Draft. Are they better NOW than they were during the 2023 season? Shouldn’t be hard to be better than last year
Better at RB, OL, DL, and most of all Safety.
better at TE, WR as well.
Idk about rb just yet but yeah they’re better in a lot of areas
we are not better at running back mixon was top 5 running backs in the league and we downgraded to Jonathan Taylor’s back up

Absolutely, they are better (on paper). They still need to pass the eye test. We will assume that they stay healthy, AND Tee and Trey play without pause. The O-line is better, RB position is now more versatile. (they will miss Mixon on certain plays).Bell will make sure the backfield is in check and teach communication with positioning. TE will surprise many people and be a strength this season. The use of TE will open up the WR's and they will shine bright once again with Chase, Tee, Jones, Burton getting most of the snaps and Jos....coming in as well. Defense should be fine without Reader. I believe they are more athletic and versatile with the additions.

i think we’re better overall for sure… younger, more talented, lost some leadership but also gained a lot of leadership with Sheldon, Von Bell coming back, Geno Stone coming in, Trent Brown, Zack Moss etc. i think it’s a brilliant trade off and the fact that it’s gone under the radar to this point is amazing! i have HIGH HOPES in this team. It’s the same core but a lot of change also which i like for a prove it mentality and i love the moves the team made from FA’s to Draft Picks. Let’s Goooooo 🐅 👑
Yes! When you brought it up I thought of roasting Mike Brown too. But Dalton or Chad would work really well. And yeah, get Burrow towards the end of his career.
I think this is a pretty easy answer. It's yes, we are better than last year. I don't think any position group got worse, and I definitely think some groups got better. We are absolutely better at Oline and Safety. We are better at Tight End, too. If Burton really hits and Charlie Jones stays healthy, I think we could be better collectively at WR. Even if 1 single player isn't better than Reader, I think our defense on in the interior could be collectively better. We added solid depth there. Really like how our off-season has went
It's hard to say if we're a better team now. No injuries have happened yet. No vets are having a down year yet either

I didn’t really care that much when I heard Burton didn’t get to wear #3, cool as that would be.. until I was watching Goodberry’s film study of Burton and I realized that Burton wore #3 at Alabama. It’s one thing for the front office to not understand the 513 factor, it’s another thing altogether when it’s Burton’s freaking number from college and they deliberately deny him that number. Now they just look petty and utterly un-cool for standing in the way of us fans having the 513 out there. Not cool, man. SMH.

@@TheSokodelic Zim put out a pod indicating Burton didn’t want the number 3. I have no idea why that would be, but as far as I know it’s unconfirmed.
@@tmartin8888 I don't believe anything Zim says after he "reported" that Tee got signed last year, no offense. I hope he's right though.

We are better by a long mile. As long as our draft picks are B players we are so much better.

I think they did get better. they got some good additions, but the players that they already have will be better and improved this year
The defense concerns me.The offense is going to have to score alot of points to win games.

Jermaine Burton has not earned his number with the Bengals yet. He got to put that work in first meaning he has to cook and show the NFL that he is a threat like Jamar and t. Higgins
Not sure how the QB room has anything to do with the team being better overall. Not knowing Browning could play doesn't change the fact that the QB room is exactly the same as it was last year. That said, I'll say the team overall is slightly better.
Safety, TE, 2 new RT and a healthy Burrow are big time improvements.
RB and DT are a wash
CB and WR being slightly lower.

They are better on the offense now. All they have to do is introduce the NFL to Burton and by mid-season the NFL will see that. Burton is a threat and that will open it up for Higgins and Jamar and opponent will not know where the ball is gone go which creates more wins and all the defense got to do is their Job and get the ball back to Joe B without letting the opponent score
Talking about rb i watched the ufl yesterday and the michigan team has one that's a very talented and quick rb i don't know who he is but he wears #26 for them .he was bursting through line jumping over tackles and when he hit the open field dude's got speed .
RB room is better not the same lol. Chase brown in his 2nd year with actual snaps will be dangerous. Anything behind moss and brown is iffy (Williams stinks).
Of course the team is better IF Burrow is healthy. Recall last year he could barely move and throw well in the pocket due to the calf. He was not right for the first 3 or 4 games. He has yet to play a full season relatively healthy (throw out the Super Bowl year as he was not right with his ACL recovery until 6 to 8 games into that season). As has been said the best ability is availability. Are we better without Mixon and Perine at RB. Moss , Brown and Evans. If the the line plays better than average we might be ok at RB with those guys. The O line has way underperformed despite the free agents and draft picks which have not worked out at all. Our depth at guard is laughable as none of the backups are starter quality. I just hope Mims is what we think he is because he will be playing this year. Trent Brown hasnt done a whole season of games forever.
Anarumo needs to fix the defense. The backup DT drafts in previous year not good (Carter). I think we are good at DE. We need both DT draft picks to play to their potential or the defense will be cooked against the run again. Linebackers solid not spectacular. CB a problem that we have not been able to stay healthy and i hope the switch of Dax works out. Resigning Bell at safety was an admission that letting both safeties walk 2 years ago was a HUGE mistake. Is Geno Stone the answer???
So yeah on paper better but a LOT needs to improve and work out and we need the injury gods to smile on the team.
Oh yeah and also the Bengals and also introduce the running backs and let them cook and Burton and the tight ends and that will open it up for Bengals elite wide receivers and the Bengals opponent won't know what to do with the Bengals offense
Bengals just need to focus on RB, CB and maybe a veteran DT before the season starts. Most notably: Stephon Gilmore, Calais Campbell, Jerick McKinnon
I do think Volson got better last season but still think they should’ve brought in some competition at guard. Other than that the offense is great
Hell yeah this team is better than last years who cares about the backup QB because Cin's goes were joe borrow takes them it's a more explosive HB room even WR Barton will be better than Tyler Boyd TE ha ,ha tanner Hutson who i like but u people R over look tanner McLachlan a former WR this guy is a baller he's just as good a Mike gesick big hands wingspan has speed big play maker go watch his film never hurt so yeah way better at TE O line is much improved tackles center hopefully a guard makes the team that's better than the backups D line it hurts losing DJ but Kris Jenkins & Jackson will be just fine add Sheldon the line is better because of rotation then LB will B better because they can play more free because of the D LINE is better safety much improved and so what awuzie gone he's already missed a lot anyway it's been okay without him anyway but add Dax & DJ ivey Josh Newton and yr2 for DJ turner the CB room has great players DJ ivey will win the job CB no2 and eventually CB1 coaches was RAVING over him last yr with 3 int before he got hurt he has the size length so Cin's with better players & backups is God way better this yr
When a running back tears an acl we say he’ll never be the same. Joe’s injury is the same. He’ll never be the same QB he was before. He may be better or he may be worse. I’m more worried about that. Him throwing a football doesn’t mean crap. Can he throw like Joe? Maybe not

Bengals this year...A little more explosive at RB, a LOT better at TE, slightly better (i think) at WR (I like Iosivas in year 2), better at O-LINE, Def-Line deeper, LB the same, Def Backfield better and DEEPER.
Let's break down that number, 81. 8+1 = 9. 9-1 (jamarr) = 8. 8-5(tee)= 3. He is already wearing 3 by my football logic 😁

Gesicki is gonna cook. Team's better but could still use depth at IOL, CB, and RB. Can't waste 2 roster spots on Williams and Evans again
Just look at outgoing vs incoming positions, at safety we are for sure better with Stone and Bell coming in to replace Scott. At offensive tackle we are for sure better with Brown and Mims to replace Williams. At TE we are better with Gesicki replacing Smith. At slot I think its a wash, we get Burton who has high upside potential and is younger and faster than Boyd but needs to prove it. At RB its also a wash I think, we get Moss and lose Mixon, Moss is younger and has more tread on the tires but we have to see if he can be consistent. The only place I see us downgraded is interior D-line getting Rankins, Jenkins, and Jackson to try to fill Reader's spot. So overall its an improvement and a net gain for the team.
Will we stay healthy determines if we are better. On paper yes but last year was derailed like to the 2020 season.

Definitely not better this year, over hyping the TE. Offense line a little better, but not to the point where burrows can have a easier time throwing and still has a good chance of injury again. Defense still need a lot of work. They will do good, but elite team will exploit the big holes they created this year and they will lose though games. They will make the playoff near the low end and not make it to the conference finals.
Did they get better? Did they get a top pick? Actually no. Did they bring in a top free agent? No on that also. That maybe expecting too much but until they hit the field what else will be known? Are the expectations still as high? Should they be? Are certain guys already on the team going to get better or continue to get better? Tyler Boyd signed a relatively player friendly one year deal in Tennessee. Now, suppose you take part of that 10.5 million you decided to pay Drew Sample over the next few years and say signed Sample to a two or even one year deal and brought back Boyd for one more? Are they assuming Sample is going to get better? Five year pro, former second round pick, still not the starter doesn't he need to be better? Sounds like the Bungles are already satisfied with Sample and many other players they drafted. Boyd is interesting in that he knows the offense, is a legit threat, and can make big plays. Drew Sample cannot make big plays period. If these podcast self-proclaimed guru's disagree that is fine. Everything is by the numbers including points and most points still wins, games, championships. As your Bengals hunt for bargains, like Zack Moss, the Ravens bring in Henry...PROVEN guy. The Bengals latched on to two free agents ranked between 90-100. So, who is their major acquisition, Moss Stone, Rankins, Gesicki? Who is their best draft pick Mims? It is 50/50 they will be carting him away like Lael Collins. Burrows health gives hope. Better hope he is ready. The way he came back from his knee surgery after his rookie season is reason to hope. Of course, the Bungles and their senile leaders hadn't fixed the OL so that Lombardi Trophy ended up a dream but it was a nice accomplishment before heading backwards again. Depth to them is a way of justfying cheap, bargains, along with play that can be or needs to be improved. In the end they are ALWAYS missing something which is a more fitting realistic motto than continuing to hear all the illiteracy sounding folks shouting "Whodey." Here is another motto "Action speaks louder than words." One more "truth is told on the field."

Jake Browning signing an extension as a backup is mind-blowing. He could make 30 mil next year somewhere and start. Glad we're keeping him for now
