Glad these seem decent. This makes me especially excited for a 3rd gen. Seems like the designers were quite inspired in creating the Luna and GX simultaneously but realized there isn’t a market for both. Hopefully more time in the oven means figuring out a unified identity for the next model.
I've got wide feet as well. You saying the gx 2 pro are better for wide feet than the gx pro? I currently have gx pro and they are spot on but the FG studs are completely worn so I need new boots now :)
@@nuggetnutcracker2935 it just depends brother because I also have a wide mid foot but the gx2 feels amazing on my foot so I really do suggest going in person to try them out because you never know how it’s gonna feel
Very interesting to hear all the criticism from everyone who hasn’t even tried these boots, and yet two of the large reviewers in the UA-cam space have already mentioned how good these are.
Lots of opinions based more so on the way they. I’m not in love with the aesthetics either, but to say that they’re bad just isn’t accurate. Way too much in common with the OG GX to be considered bad
For me they ruined the midcut boots by shortening the collar with every generation as it is purely for aesthetics now and it doesn’t change the feel anymore. Superfly 4 and 5 actually kinda felt like socks, and these new collar boots just feel like any other lowcut boots.
I feel the same way. I bought the Magista obra 2 turf versions for 5-a-side games because they were on huge discount. Loved the feel. When I was finally able to finally afford the latest mercurial superfly 9, I felt disappointed as the collar is useless now... it no longer feels the same. Save yourself some money and stick to the vapors
So, I now have a pair of these (I previously owned Phantom GT2s). I loved my old GT2s - as a wide-footed player, they are the only boot I have ever found genuinely comfortable - but they're falling apart now. Hence, these. - The boots look great in-person. I get that the colour is a bit much for most guys, but honestly, it looks good in-person. Only question is whether it suits your personal style or not. - There is probably a little more room in the toe top for me than in the GT2. That's a bit of a shame for me, I don't really need the 'dead room', but otherwise it's a great fit for wider-foot players. - The strike power from these is excellent, and the touch is good. - The cleat pattern has taken some getting used to, having studs where you might not be used to having studs - my foot is pretty sore. That said, the boots do seem to turn on an absolute dime, with no grip issues.
My first question about the sole plate is, while I can see the rational for a player that spends a lot of time twisting or pivoting, what's it like for those of us who spend most of our time sprinting down the touchline? I think we'd want more linear studs for that.
If you prefer the “sock boot” feel, definitely GX 2. If you like the idea of a more solid, “power boot” feel, definitely Pred. Both are great, but so different
Yoshi, do you know if the Nike Premier 3s are still leather? I was planning on getting the Gold ones, so I was wondering if they are still k-leather/leather at all
There's no real ankle support to be had from any mid-cut boots. The collars are not design to restrict ankle mobility, which is where "support" would come from. The biggest thing to worry about is the quality of the fit. If the fit is good, the boots will feel more stable, which is where any real support from the boots is going to come from, mid or low. Hope this helps 👍
Dear Josh! Can you please do a Nike Phantom Wenom compair with GX1? Which is better? My super loved Wenom just died and I need a similair style to my wide feet…
I like that ASICS and Mizuno keep to their roots and only make minor changes which allow for actual improvements. Unlike Nike or puma when they try to force changes to keep up with trends but yield no performance benefit whatsoever
I've wanted to go for Predator 30 but it seems like my feet are too wide for it, leaving quite a bit of toe box remaining. Is it a viable option to go for Phantom GX2 instead? I'd be going for AG sole plate.
@@Soccerreviewsforyou Thx a lot for the reply Josh! Was using Phantom Venom 3 before it just tore up very recently and now struggle to find a new one. Thx for the headups and will definitely try out the sizing of GX2 first.

just ordered mizuno morelia 3 neo mij “shining” off ebay a few days ago, seller’s located in south korea and everything’s seemed legit so far. i’ve stayed in contact with the seller and they have sent me a picture of the boots. just to be safe, any tips on how to spot a replica pair once they arrive?
Is the sizing still true to size or is it still f*cked? I have always been wearing EU44 but this year had to go 1 size up for the GX, 1/2 up for the Tiempo and the Luna doesn't even fit with 2 size up ...
The previous Luna was in women’s sizing, so it would make sense that you would have to go up in size. As far as length is concerned, it’s the same as the original GX, so whatever size you wore in those, the same should work for GX 2 👍
I can’t say that I found that to be the case, however the lacing systems between the two original GX models were slightly different. In the case of the latest model though, the only difference is the extra material around your ankle from the collar. For and lockdown is identical in my experience
They're widest through the mid-foot. They should work for most foot types, but as always, if you have exceptionally wide or narrow feet, it's hard to say that something will fit you "well" until you actually try them on.
I still think its a bad move by Nike! The GX was so popular and judging by how fast the sizes sold out, it had to be one of their best sellers ever, they coule of easily got another year out of the GX at least! This is change simple for the sake of change. Much like the mis-step by adidas, who had an amazing boot in the Speedflow. But completely changed them up because it was that time of year for a new model. These marketing departments are clueless and think their customers are stupid and just prefer a new shiny thing! Rather than what people really want. Its just a way to justify their jobs, "look we did a thing, by creating a new thing" And i think in this case, the designers of the flop Luna think the bad sales, were just down to a marketing mistake by saying "its designed for women" when even the women didnt like it! And they're basically trying to force them out the door with this release. These are just Luna 2s high and low cut! And the GX was a one-off, classic. Much like the HyperVenom 1s. This is good news for other brands like Sketchers and New Balance. Because right now, Nike Mercurials aren't great, with the insole sliding on top of the air pockets, they've ruined the Tiempo line by taking away the thing people loved about them, the kangaroo leather! I dont see why anyone would buy them over the Premier 3s. People like what they like, and i like a bare foot feel with conical studs, so the New Balance Tekela laced version or the Harry Kane boots look a lot more appealing for my next pair of boots
