  • "...how wonderful, as a reader myself, that feeling is when a book you read enters your own personal sense of self. When the books aren't just a distraction, a diversion, a beach read, an airplane read, but they become part of the map of how we deal with the world..." --Guy Gavriel Kay
Guy Gavriel Kay appeared in conversation with Kris Holden-Ried at the Toronto Reference Library on May 13, 2019 to promote his latest book, A Brightness Long Ago.

Lions of Al-Rassan is literary the book of my life. And I know how it sounds...but none other book (and I read quite a few) has enriched me as much as this one. I'm so grateful I live in the same time as him so I can experience and learn from his powerful, human, vibrant, moving, timeless, hopeful and tragic stories. In one way i can't believe that his name is not on everybody's mouths but on the other I feel like you have to attract his books to you, you have to be lucky enough for them to find you ;)

If you had asked me to guess who would interview GGK, never in a million years would I come up with the dude from Lost Girl.
