    When you threw in the John Danaher quote I lost it. I feel like a lot of times while rolling I think of my next move in terms of how I've heard experts explain it, so when I attack legs, in my mind sometimes that exact quote goes through my head. If you have a similar experience I think it would be really funny if you did more of this with other ideas running your mind while you fight

    2 things. first, excellent job on that escape. The buggy choke isn't real, you have both arms free to defend just like you did. frame on the head and make space between your AC joint and your ear and breathe. Nice work. Second, your spinning farside armbar attacks aren't working because you're taking a lot of pressure off your opponent. bringing your head to their hip keeps the arm trapped, then you just hip switch over the head with a foot planted and it falls into place. I think you may have picked up this habit from getting the back/kimura-triangle position on lesser skilled opponents. I hope that helps.

    • @Danjr704
      @Danjr704 2 роки тому +9

      Yeah once someone gets caught in this once, they defend much quicker the second time.
      I know this cause I was catching several people with it, then I couldn’t figure out why nobody would go to side control on me anymore.
      It’s an effective submission but be careful with your knees. It puts a lot of strain on your PCL

    • @brendanloska5914
      @brendanloska5914 2 роки тому +1

      @@Danjr704 i think the fly trap is a much more effective submission from side control. 10th planet move kinda like buggy only you use other leg instead as rubber and then make a triangle to finish choke. Look up on here Jeremiah Vance does it a lot

    • @Danjr704
      @Danjr704 2 роки тому +2

      @@brendanloska5914 Yeah I like fly trap too. But again it requires more dexterity with your hips than knees. I tried this as well and did it wrong and popped my knee and have been out since thanksgiving cause of it lol. Like buggy choke you can only hit it on people who are smaller than you or have small back/neck. I tried this locked it up tried to tighten it and knee just let out loud pop and the guy who I had it in freaked out thinking he did something wrong. I told him no it was just my stupidity.

    He’s correct about resting your arm on the sternum while in the choke. I learned from an old head about “mutual assurance” meaning however hard he squeezes matches how ever hard your elbow depresses into the sternum or diaphragm. Same process can be used with the triangle choke in the guard

    Great chess match. I'm also a blue belt and I haven't rolled since covid cause my daughter has over active immune system that attacks not only the virus but her organs if she was to contract covid. So I had to give bjj up along with other combat sports

      Bjj is more like chess than any other combat sport, you have to give them a reason to behave or react the way you need them to, bait something and go for your guard pass, mix up their attention.
