I call my hybrid my mystery club, because it sends the ball into places id never imagine and never where i want it go go, so cant wait to try out Matts 3 tips ;-)
Ive never hit mine out the middle. Just fills a spot in the bag.
OMG! I played today for the first time in 7 weeks due to k]lockdown again and I used this simple technique and couldnt believe how straight and far I could hit my 3 wood, thank you so much you are bringing enjoyment back to my game!
Matt, another sensible lesson but may I add the swing. I have found when I try for distance with my hybrids I swing to fast and hard and generally screw it up, but an easier swing allows the club to do the work an generally look like your last shot.
Keep up the quality work mate👍😍
Matt is the Best!
Love this video!
Brilliant tip, imagining I am pushing a tee under my left foot changed my game instantly. 3 iron 2nd shot to 1st green yesterday was great after spending weeks topping my hybrid clubs
I have replaced my 3 iron with a 3 hybrid. I was having a "love/hate" relationship with it, but of late, I have gotten rather fond of it. I just have to remember "ball position" and "weight transfer" as you recommended. Great video on the hybrid Matt! Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for this Matt! I applied it to my game today. I have an index of 22.8 but when I shot a 93 today, it went to a 21.1! Felt like I couldn't miss!
I like the tee tip to help get the club in the correct angle. This is a more intermediate level lesson. Thanks!
Another great lesson Matt. Thanks.
Great refresher! I've been seeing much lower trajectory from my hybrids, real low like 8-10 deg launch. I suspect I am doing a bit of one or all of the swing mistakes you describe.
Matt is the best!
Really enjoy your content Matt, clear and concise instructions.
Thanks Ryan, hope it's helping
Really interesting video, thank you , Matt. My 4 Hybrid is actually my best club in the bag, after my driver. I normally place the ball 2 inches in front of center for Hybrid off of the deck and get it right every time. As you have mentioned th similarity to Irons, I am now considering having my 5 and 7 Iron 2 inched in front of center. I normally have them in the center and my Irons aren't great. Thank you.
Really good tips Matt 👌👊🏼
Great tip Matt
Thanks Matt! Would this work for fairway woods too? Just ball position a little more forward?
Great video Matt. I have adopted this approach for a while, getting the weight moving to my lead heal during the downswing for my hybrids, irons and even fairway woods, with a tweak to my set up. Makes for a great strike. I like the feeling of trying to push a tee into the ground with my lead heel as it provides a focus to get my weight over.
Thanks
My pleasure hope that visual helps
@@Mattfryergolf I’m sure it’s related but combined with getting me weight over my leading heal I’ve found it also helps me to ensure my leading hip also gets over my left heal. It’s really helps me with strike.
Thanks again I love your videos, like the tips you give to help gain feelings which is difficult to do 👍
Do we get the same result if we preset our stance so that our weight favors the leading foot? Tq
PS the shaft is too long on my 3 Wood. It is supposed to be the same action as a Hybrid with the two inches in front of center with the ball position. I can only hit my 3 Wood off of the tee. I am useless with it off of the deck.
The hybrid is my favourite club,....and it is true....a lot of golfers are hitting it like a fairway wood ?
Me as a senior golfer with hcp 7 using 2 hybrids in my bag.........
Brilliant!
Ive got 2 hybrids in my bag at present and they are super useful - I like using them to be honest.
Good tips Matt _ I'll keep them in mind should be hybrid game go bad
Cheers
My pleasure
Baseball analogy. I’m hitting about .250 one in four shots I’m happy with using hybrid
Perfect time for lunch 👍
It's a treat for afters 😉
Cheers for the video, been working on this at the range tonight.
If I continue to top it, thin it, hook it, block it it'll be launched down the range!! 🤬😂
Great video as always Matt. But I think it's spelt Divot. 😜
I'll have to get my spellcheck turned back on.😂
Spelt is a type of wheat!
3:48 majestic pose
Thought people would like that
Does anyone know when that long drive contest is
Not sure?!
I don't even own a hybrid but I still watched this
Hybrids are easy to hit, people just over think it, it’s just like an iron where you hit down on it, it’s not like a driver or 3 wood
Would this not cause more swaying rather than a weight based transition?
No as moving it in to the heel will get you rotating as well. If you move the lead hip in front of lead foot and get the weight moving over the outersole of the shoe, then you might slide
@@Mattfryergolf Thank you!
A hybrid is like mixed doubles- it’s not sex and it’s not tennis.
It's gotta take skill to purposely hit a bad shot for a demo, Matt
