  • In this video, a Lily pollen suspension is applied to the top of a 25 ml solution of either deionised water or 1:5 diluted honey:water. The sedimentation of the pollen from the top of the solution to the bottom of the tube is recorded. The main conclusion is that indidual pollen grains migrate from the top of the water to the base of the tube in about 6 minutes. When applied to the top of a diluted honey mix, sedimentation is much slower, with some pollen grains still not sedimented after 1 hour.
