Can remember those little coasters, HEXHAM BANK, STEPHEN BROWN, CONARA and CAMIRA as they used to dock in Blackwattle Bay and Balls Head. One of them caught on fire at sea, think it was HEXHAM BANK. Land at Catherine Hill Bay would be worth a motza these days, back in the 1970's no one wanted to live out there in the miners huts etc.
I've heard rumours of a pair of sunglasses lost at sea, just to the North. The legend has it, the glasses are visible from the jetty on a full moon. An ethereal glisten, from the sea bed.

Yes, the Hexham Bank caught fire off Shellharbour in 1978 & was totally destroyed. It was towed back to Sydney where it was scrapped.
