That armour design is cool! It looks more functional than most fantasy armours. (Although real armour isn't this form fitting to make it better at absorbing impacts.) I enjoy this more serious character. She's got a very dependable vibe about her. But she also strikes me as a big realist.

Always did think knightly women were something special. And that line about her "not being a burden" reminds me of a classic confession line from Fire Emblem: Awakening, spoken by none other than one of the main protagonists, a king in exile (pretty much) fighting for the future no less: "You are the wind at my back and the sword at my side. Together, my love, we shall build a peaceful world...just you and me." (Lady Catori and Listener attained support level S.)
I would love too hear a part 2 so here is my unsolicited pitch. 😂 I could picture they are traveling back from another kingdom for something urgent that the queen wants the listener to get, the speaker thinking it is pointless that he comes with while he should be safe in his kingdom, only for the listener to rebuff her remarks. As they make their way home a group of robbers stop their carriage, the knight steps out to kick their asses, she makes quick work of a few, scattering the rest to the winds, the listener not knowing what was causing such a commotion and worrying for his love steps out armed with only his ceremonial sword and training, he stumbles out of the carriage just in time too thwart the last robber as they got within feet of her, stopping them and properly saving her in return for the countless times she has done the same for him (Why not break the damsel in distress trope too while we’re at it). Who knows maybe what they were sent to retrieve was a new ring that the queen wants him to give to her? 😉
Headcannon that our character was inspired to finally confess his feelings after it was announced his cousin is now engaged to his Former Royal Head Maid.
