I really enjoy watching your videos. I am not a dairyman, but as a 75 yr. old farmer in Va. I have cut back a lot on what I use to do. Now I just concentrate on my 80 acres of orchard grass and fescue hay that I produce by myself . I bale both square and round bales of hopefully horse quality hay to sell locally. I want to make a safety suggestion to you and other farmers who might read this. I noticed in this video that you are wearing your wedding band. I use to wear my all the time. We’ve been married 52 years, but on March 15, 1996,I almost accidentally pulled my ring off. I was loading my nurse truck tank with liquid nitrogen to spray on my barley. As I jumped down off the side of the truck, my wedding band got hung on a bolt thread. When I jumped down, my finger was hung. I did not pull my finger off, but the ring ripped the skin loose and rolled everything down to the tendons. The hand surgeon took 4 hours to restore blood circulation, nerves, and attaching skin back together. After about 6 weeks of therapy and exercises on my finger, I was able to retain full use of my finger. I did not purchase a new wedding band until about 10 years after the accident. The original band was stretched into an oblong shape when it was pulled up to the first joint in my finger. Now I never wear my wedding band when I’m working! I wear it only for church or going out with my wife. Just be careful as you farm and make your great videos. They are very educational to all and they show what is really involved in being a farmer now days. You and your Dad be safe. Good luck to and your families in the future.
Great that you keep experimenting. A lot of folks forget that or simply dont care, but if you dont keep up with technology and try new stuff, you will fall behind.
Your dad has done a good job teaching you how to do different things. You seem to know how to do whatever needs to be done if not then you always figure it out. 👌
As a long-retired school superintendent, I know squat about farming; BUT I thoroughly enjoy your videos. I appreciate that your farm is a family endeavor compared to some YT videos of mega-operations. Keep on keepin' on!
Hello Eric, I live in Minnesota our weather is no where Spring like. Good to see you post anything on your 10th Generation Farm. You are so energetic each time you post. Oh to be young again. Please show us your baby boy even if it's just a picture. I like thar you show such confidence as you go about your work/chores and everything else. Saw an older video of you visiting the young man in Pennsylvania Dairy show. He expressed a lot of respect and admiration for your work and lifestyle. Smart young farmer. Thanks for this new update on Spring Field on work. Stay safe see you next time. Tom in Minneapolis
Many memories of going out the 1st day trying to get field work done and nothing goes right. I think it's great for you to experiment on different fertilizers. Love your videos Eric.
Meanwhile in south western Ontario it’s now March 12 and we have blizzard conditions. I really want to get manure on our winter forage crop. Maybe next week will be warmer
I was in york county and saw a self propelled sprayer with what I'm assuming was a 120 ft boom on it go down the road followed by a spray trailer and I also saw a few people discing and spreading manure so I guess everyone is in the field this week
It is pretty obvious that you are really excited to be back in the fields doing your farm work. Winter has had its fun and now time for it to go away till next year. Thanks for the great video and til next time,. peace.
Where do you get your ideas to change up the fertilizing process for your farm. You always look to get the most out of your crops to better feed your cows. Stay safe.
I can't believe you can mix something as basic as that calcium additive with something as acidic as UAN. Don't you remember when you mixed vinegar and baking soda together as a kid to make a volcano.
I was just watching another dairy farmer and he planted his silage corn at 15 inch row spacing. Then you would have to heap up your bunks to 15 - 20 feet high to get it all in and save having to ag bag it.
Wow ten minutes in and already 1236 views, that's quick. Your right on the money on the cost of fertilizer, pellet was over twice as much on the same amount as of November of last year, haven't checked this year, but I already talked to my customer about it. Good advice on the liquid fertilizer, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the advice and the video, have a great weekend.
I'm blown away at how much chemicals/fertilizers/pesticides have gone up in price this year... I think it's so bad that there will be a lot of farms that don't even break even this year. The worst part is that I believe a lot of these manufacturers are raising their prices just because they can. They're taking advantage of the global economy and various issues happening around the world. Some of the manufacturers and the chemicals obviously had to increase in price, but not all and it's clear that those that didn't need to chose to just to be greedy. Anyway, I genuinely hope that it doesn't hurt you guys in the long run and it doesn't impact your bottom line. I think this whole situation is going to create some very inventive farmers and many will revert back to the old school ways to fertilize and old school methods to make pesticides on the farm. Stuff like this always drives innovation so it could be interesting to see what comes from it. Good luck to everybody, especially you and your dad, Eric! Thanks for sharing the video and keeping us up to date! 🙏
You have molasses on your farm. Throw 10 gallons into your sprayer with water. The molasses is a simple suger that will feed the bacteria and microbes in your soil. The soil web if managed properly will maximize yield.
@@8tomtoms8 He could also throw into the mix a gallon or two of the Alaskan Fish Emulsion Fertilizer. With all the cow manure he lays down on the fields. Oh Lord, I believe his soil would be teaming with an abundance of bacteria and microbe activity causing a symbiotic relationship between the minerals in the soil and the roots of the plants. I'm a firm believer of the Kiss Method. KISS = Keep it simple stupid. And less is better then more.
i do hope the weather were holding up fairly well to spray and tend to other things and if you ask me with weather news i would like to think it is a potential thing than saying it will so nonetheless weather forecast could be abit of a help still to prepare and know what todo before some weather is there
Hey Eric, I love watching your videos, I don't care how long they are. This one got me excited for spraying up here but that won't happen till like may, where abouts is your farm?
Ya 32 percent is 650$ a ton here in Kansas! Absolutely ridiculous!! But have to use it to produce!! I haven’t tried those things you talk about. May have look in to it sometime!! I use a lot of nh3 here on corn! .90 cents a lb.
So the price of fertilizer is as much as organic. You, your family, and; organican Skywalker, chew broccoli 🥦, princess lettuce 🥬, yogurt, obe Wan cannoli, c-3 peanuts, Ham solo, R2 tofu. May the organic Farm be with you!
So, we have seen two successive seasons of corn on the fields next to the bunkers, now there is triticale. Is the next rotation going to be alfalfa for a year or two?
Gosh Eric yet another year has passed and you are back to growing feed again. Look at how many subscribers you have now, when I subscribed you were under a thousand 🤗

That happen to my Dad. He lost the use of the finger.
Wow that sounds rough! I am wearing a rubber ring so if it catches on anything it will tear off. Thanks for the comment.
@@10thgenerationdairyman61 That rubber ring is a great idea Eric! I did not know that product was available. Thanks for sharing!
A man I know had his tatttooed on.
Woot! Woot! Spraying the fields means Spring is almost here!
Great that you keep experimenting. A lot of folks forget that or simply dont care, but if you dont keep up with technology and try new stuff, you will fall behind.
Insanely priced is an understatement. People will find out soon when the price is obsorbed into the grocery isle.
Your dad has done a good job teaching you how to do different things. You seem to know how to do whatever needs to be done if not then you always figure it out. 👌
Always interesting, keep them coming, hope the new little one and your wife are doing well, God bless
You are a total Mr. Fix-it, Eric! If anything breaks at my house I usually have to call someone. Great vlog! 🐮 🥛 🤍

just a great video, Eric. So glad your are back fertilizing again. Thank you so much
Any day on a tractor is a good day. Aloha🙏

Great video! The promise of a new season of renewal is always exciting. Thanks for sharing. Well done Eric! Deuteronomy 30:9
That feed tractor works it's way into every episode. LOL
Thanks for sharing.
Can’t wait to see the difference in the fertilizers. Definitely a year to try new things. Glyphosate and 2,4-D are a nightmare this year also.
Im from Panama and Urea(N) is already 4x price not sure if planting corn this year is viable. Great video keep the hard work!
Good adapting the hose.
Excited for this weather!!!! Love watching your videos Eric

What can't you do with a reciprocating saw! Works great for pruning trees.
I hope milk price will be boosted to reflect input costs. Your operation is so efficient. Feed pusher robots will be exciting vids
Going really GOOD - NO. Going really WELL - YES

as the cost of fertilizer, fuel, and everything we use goes up with inflation we may be out of business by fall, how is it affecting your dairy?
Good to see some field work. Been a long winter !
Gotta shake those or mix them before pouring. You'll get different formulas if you don't.
he rinses the containers out however. peace
Big winterstorm coming here in Ontario-- I believe up your way too.....
In the Uk they make you put full “spaceman” suit to handle chemicals when you’re spraying, it’s ridiculous.

I’m envious that your spring season is beginning already. I live in the northern tier of PA.
If you haven't resolved your hose problem, there are hoses made to stand up to the cold. But all hoses seem to dry out and get brittle over time.
Thank you sir...always enjoyable watching you work..lol 🚜🚜👨🌾🌠👍
Sprayer working great for you guys!
Non farmer here. I am interested in all it takes to run a farm. Thanks
Gotta love the good weather

Is there a story involving that one lonely tree in the field by the silage bunks ?...
Love getting the notification you posted a new vid 😂

Spring fever!
Can’t believe it’s Spring time, Chicago’s snow just melted.
We did some spraying ourselves. Smell of spring
Great to see you in the field
Great to see you back in the field!
You should build a steel frame for you water tank to sit on, then just open a valve to fill your sprayer.
I'm so excited about the robot setup.
Having fun. Cruising again 🙋♀️😊

spring is a bit off in montana yet, like how you can come up with solutions to problems,
I hate when that happens!!
Ten gen farmer. You were right on the rams .who do you have for March madness.
Haven't been keeping up with college basketball this year
That explorer something from homestead nutrition? Wouldn't mind hearing more about it.
Yes I'll talk more about it in future videos
Very interesting to compare the new fertilizer with the old. Could you give a cost comparison as well? Also a link for the organic fertilizer.
He gave the name, it will likely have different prices depending where you are.
Google ferticell explorer 10-0-0
Hi i am matthew from South Africa i watch your video and i love you guys
When you are spraying home come you don’t put something like pink dye in it so you can see where you have already done?
Robot! Robot!
Might put gutter water into black storage tank
What's the purpose of having 1 lonely tree in the field?

Good video. What kind of sprayer is that?
How are you guys going to handle the crazy prices?
How long has the snow been gone? Seems like an early spring

You should get cattle dogs
caught it early
I think its from the chemicals that made it brittle.
Does the calcium lower the soil ph?
Spring is coming!
🇺🇸👍👍👍OK
👍
I wanna meet him so bad and get a photo
Maybe a dumb question… are you spraying before you seed the fields or did you already seed first?
We seeded them last fall and they went dormant over winter
@@10thgenerationdairyman61 oooooooo I didn’t know that was possible. Darn city girl. Thanks for the reply. 😂🥰
Eric damn near has to be a chemist to fertilize the fields...
WHY would you need to fertilize when you have all that manure?
Where do you purchase the Explorer?
call Ferticell USA in AZ. They should be able to direct you to a distributor
How many acres of Traciale do you guys have on your 2 farms
