Beulah Classic Spey Rod 12'7" Custom Skagit head: 19' 540 grains 10' t8 sink tip 3 give or take, straight mono running line medium large profile steelhead fly
Merry Christmas! I have to say I enjoy your enthusiasm and am gaining a lot by watching your videos. I’m new to the game having just started a couple of weeks ago. But I’m spending lots of time on the water practising despite the cold weather (Canada, on the Columbia). I’m not catching fish and not expecting to at this point, but I’m really enjoying the casting, especially when it comes together and the line shoots out.
Merry Christmas, can you mention the the rod, head, and sink tip specs in your videos please or have them listed in the notes? Thanks🎅🏼 Also love the slow mo and need front view to see how you’re keeping in the box form cheers
Serious question Tim, I see a great cast but the line doesn’t lay out really straight with a lot of wiggle in the line. I see this In my cast, is this what we should expect out of skagit? I see a ton of rebound in my casts with around 10 strips. I really want a good cast with a straight layout finish if possible. Thanks in advance Tim.
In my case I think this particular sink tip is not heavy enough to turn over this fly cleanly. Gonna make a new video with t14 and same fly to clean that up!
@@LineSpeedJediTimRawlins Thanks Tim, I really love the videos you put out as they are constructive and motivating. My loops are starting to look better while using a command groove with a T11 tip which for me is real world casting for fishing and so I practice cast using this setup a lot. Although I can huck out 10 strips with kinda good loops my finish is seldom perfectly straight, I ether get a ton of rebound at the end of the cast or I get poor turn over, both create a less than perfect presentation. I’m thinking and working on a more positive stop at the end of the foreword stroke might help. I haven’t ventured using the T14 yet as I think I might struggle even more nor have I used my opst floating head yet as I think the groove is just a better fishing head. I’m really looking forward to the next video you mentioned above.
HELP-Tim, I have a 7wt tfo Switch dear creek. What would recommend for ospt weight head? The smooth or lazer line system? Thanks from Dick a newbee Love your video s
Hi Richard, I would definitely contact OPST! That is too nice of a rod, and powerful to mismatch with the wrong line and get it wrong. What are you planning to fish for with the rod and what size of rivers?
@@LineSpeedJediTimRawlins thanks Tim I will contact them.I will fishing coho and steelhead! I live at Bush point on Whidbey island . I fish rite in front of my house with spin gear, but want to learn Spey! If you are ever up my way I would love to fish with you 🎣🎣😎

You have slack in the line and the rod loads off too quickly.. Maybe heavier shooting would be 👍👍
Thanks for the advice! Merry Christmas!
