When I hear it, it brings me back to a simpler time, back when I was young and not sick like this. And I find relief for the few minutes that I listen to it. So thankful I remembered it tonight. When this song came out in November 1993, I was hopelessly falling in love with the woman who would become my wife. More than 25 years later, we are still together.
Looking back, I find it very hard to believe that the same guy that sang "Never Gonna Give You Up" and "Together Forever" then went in this direction and sang such heartfelt adult contemporary ballads in the early '90s! They are very beautifully sung songs though and definitely contrasted to all the alternative, hip-hop and hypersexual pop at that time. I think I may have seen this music video a few times back when VH1 was more innocent.
Rick Astley deserves more credit than he gets for his voice. His baritone has just a little bit of huskiness to it, and his falsetto is a nice complement.
This may have not been his biggest hit but they played this song A LOT on the radio when I was 13 ( I was a pop radio junkie, listened to a lot of Casey Kasem chart rundown every Sunday!) But this song was on the radio a lot. I think it won a BMI award for 1 million spins.

'93 was the tail end of 80s style music. This is more adult contemporary pop so it makes sense that it still sounded 80s
