- I take a little mooch around South Shore in Blackpool before checking in on the 3rd day of the demolition of the former Hartes & Woolworths store.

Stephen stop apologising mate, you have nothing to apologise for. You bring content to your channel giving us an insight into Blackpool when the majority of us cannot be there. I have memories of Dean St when I was a child, my Grandma and Mum took me for a mid week break and we stayed in a small hotel on Dean St. it was around this time of year too as the Conservative Party conference was taking place and I believe we saw Margaret Thatcher getting out of a car and going into the conference. Grandma insisted on taking us into BHS for a mid morning coffee and cake. Amazing how your video has stirred up old memories like this. I remember the hotel owners had a couple of children around my age and they took me out being mischievous. I think they had moved there from a town called Ossett in West Yorkshire. Tell me something that I need to remember today and I struggle. Thanks for taking us along.
The old coach house I think was part of the church on the same road , was the vergers home I believe ,it is also known as being haunted and many guests have said they seen something although we never have . It really is a special place inside and is nearly always booked up .

Stayed there a few times ,absolutely class ,four poster beds and furniture to die for ,excellent hosts and lovely breakfasts .
Thanks Stephen, they're certainly getting on with it (the demolition) doesn't take long once they get started. Nice seeing the different coloured houses something you seem to see at many seaside locations around the country.
You've nothing to say sorry for Stephen, like all of us your life gets really busy at times and sometimes there is not enough hours in a day. @@Jemma-om5km I thought they were going to build flats and shops on it as the owner was refused permission to make it a car park?
@@edwardharrington678 Howard plant the guy who owns the Land ( also owns a few other car parks in Blackpool ) was refused planning for a car park on the basis it was a graded building not anymore it's not, Bet you any money 12 Months from now you will see a Car park, failing that he will just sell the land at a loss.

The old coach house hotel is the oldest building in south shore
Also haunted apparently.
Me n my hubby used visit Blackpool 2002-2006.we used to stay in a B&B with laurel and Hardy in the window .we had the best times but can't recall the street or name any ideas Steve xx

There was a basement, but I think the store was only open on the ground level.

A shame really as used to be a very busy, popular area. The South Shore markets used to be well frequented and Woolworths was the nucleus of that shopping area as well.

Hi Stephen excellent video of South shore Blackpool and the Hart's store is coming down quickly some nice areas down south shore I'll miss the Hart's store a lot of memories of it being the Woolworths store such a shame and the area needs development especially in the south shore area of Blackpool and it will make Waterloo road and bond street badly need development it make Blackpool better and as you do Stephen it's kicking off in Blackpool 😂thanks Stephen excellent video take care pal from Keith

Very interesting coverage, my mother worked in Woolworths for sometime when if first opened, I have fond memories of it.
Before being occupied by Woolworths, it was a public house and bowling green. My mother once showed me the basement cellers (located near the Waterloo rd side of the building) that were still in place which included a tunnel that traversed along Waterloo road. Apparently it was a way in which people could get to the pub from key buildings such as the picture house. I wonder if that tunnel is still in place?

Heard rumours a 1958 farthing coin has been found during the Harte's demolition. 2 million tight Yorkshire folk have laid claim to it's ownership. Strange, as 60 per cent were not even born in 1958!😂

Waterloo rd was a busy street when it was 2 way traffic.

The postcode border appears to be Waterloo Road, but it’s staggered a bit, I think.

The shop next to Romero takeaway in Bond Street is having some work done I see. I saw a guy in there about 4.30 laying a new floor. I wonder what it will be, a vape store, a Turkish barber, another takeaway? I hope it's a takeaway, Indian please 🙏🏻😋 Just to note, anyone in Bond Street area, if you've never had a kebab from Romero, I recommend, large is enormous and they're delicious.
