you can actually remove the weird stab mounts from the stock keycaps, i did it when i switched my kaycaps over to to the hyperx pudding keycaps ages ago. it just takes some prying from beneath
This is awesome to see, I'm in the middle of re-building my own Black Widow from back in the day for a co-worker. Did not realize how much of a pain de-soldering this would be, and my edition has the 4 pin leds..nightmare fuel. Especially with this hand power solder pump, I would kill for your 'gat' lol. Great videos, thanks for the inspiration to finish this project already!
Those're called Costar stabs. The loops that the wires hook into on the keycaps can be pulled off to reveal normal MX-type cross mounts. Just put those loops on the new caps and hook them on. You can also lube them.
This! actually lubed costar stabs sound pretty good though it's kind of easy to make a mess with the grease, perhaps DBZ would be the better choice (I know that's not the correct name I just always get confused XD)
NGL scared the shit outta me hearing the knock on the left then right channel at the beginning of the video. Watching this at midnight on surround sound speakers.
I have Blackwidow 2013 Ultimate with Razer Green switches. I didn't know there is a version with Cherry Blue. I would say that mine is in perfect condition after 7 years of being heavily used and 2 years of being a spare keyboard. Still no issues with it. This video actually inspires me to give it some love and make it even more special
I think that sticking to the OG keycaps would've helped the sleeper build vibe a little bit more. Great job modding this thing, still! It's insane how much PE foam can do to the sound signature
As someone that claims the Drop Alt as his favorite keyboard, I love that every switch I buy off drop needs to get the legs clipped. It's become a nightmare around there: little legs all over the place, getting under and inside things that I never thought were possible
Bro that tapping sound effect scared the heck out of me especially since my desk is right next to my glass sliding door. I should not have watched this at night lol
The Black widow 2014 with linear switches was my very first mechanical keyboard, and I didn't like it AT ALL (before I learned about the existence of tactile/clicky switches. It sat it my closet for a very long time... So much nostalgia watching this video!
Btw shoobs modifiers arent stuck basically you take off the keycap but its gonna be loose and still in the keyboard and then you shake it from side to side and continue pulling it and it should come out
Did I really expect to crap my pants in jolting fear whilst watching your most recent upload alone in my very dark living room with headphones on? Did I really need to think that someone just knocked on my fucking window... 6 stories up???? DAMN YOU FOR ERASING YEARS FROM MY LIFE!!!
That was my first Mech keyboard too! Right in the feels. Except I had greens. They were pretty much linears by the time I retired it XD Now I'm just waiting on my TKC1800 so I can relive that big keyboard life at work.
Ooft.. came across this video a year too late, but hey, I still have my Razer blackwidow 2013 also (somewhere in storage) - I might whip that out and mod it with some Gateron yellow + new keycaps + tape mod (3 layers) + foam. Since it's not gasket mounted - I was thinking of screwing in some silicon in each of the screw holes that hold the plate - to reduce the pinging from the metal plate.
gotta be honest I probably hate clickies from having PTSD of people using this kinda crap on skype back in the day... definitely is one of those things that I'd yell at the to have a push-to-talk button and not just an open mic
Do you like how your skin feels on your body?
bachoo, please go back to the facility
Bachoo?
@@ShoobsTube ok (((fed)))
This was a great video to watch before sleeping :)
rip it off. yeah, i know you hate the feeling. come on, just rip it off.
The knock made me shit myself
Trust me bro XD
When?
Take care of yourself chief, you deserve rests too, been seeing your social media, you'll keep up the great work chief
Appreciate that!!!

I believe Costar stabs are kinda popular in China?
costar stabs really suck.
shit feels like a movie
NGL scared the shit outta me hearing the knock on the left then right channel at the beginning of the video. Watching this at midnight on surround sound speakers.
very thoughtful of Shoobs to document the deterioration of his sanity like this, this video will be studied by psych students for generations

my favourite video yet
That intro was fire, you guys should make a analog horror parody about keyboards.
Another Shoobs masterpiece
Another great Jordan comment

essentially, remove keyboard, add new keyboard. its not modding, its replacing.
I think that sticking to the OG keycaps would've helped the sleeper build vibe a little bit more. Great job modding this thing, still! It's insane how much PE foam can do to the sound signature
The knocks in the intro video actually made me start looking around. Did me frighten right there
god the knocking in my planar magnetic open backs scared the shit out of me. it legitimately sounded like someone was there.
As someone that claims the Drop Alt as his favorite keyboard, I love that every switch I buy off drop needs to get the legs clipped. It's become a nightmare around there: little legs all over the place, getting under and inside things that I never thought were possible
bro the knock gives me shiver
Maybe it’s time you make the ultimate light tactile?
JWK Pewter housing with Razer Orange tactile stem.
Bro that tapping sound effect scared the heck out of me especially since my desk is right next to my glass sliding door. I should not have watched this at night lol
sakura koi uta in the intro
The way you twist the cable makes my soul hurt
Cool project tho, definetely going to do something similar once I replace my Blackwidow
LETS GOOO SHOOBS UPLOAD, THIS IS THE ONLY THING I LIVE FOR NOW
The Black widow 2014 with linear switches was my very first mechanical keyboard, and I didn't like it AT ALL (before I learned about the existence of tactile/clicky switches. It sat it my closet for a very long time... So much nostalgia watching this video!
“We have to clip the extra legs” I would’ve thrown that sh*t away. Hahahaha I admire your courage my good man
Love the editing style
Ah yes. The infinite brown switch.
goddamn it shoobs
*Shoobs...*
Your intros are so powerful they give me reason to live
Mx brown stem + gateron brown top + kaihl brown bottom + outemu brown spring = Browns
Watching the intro in a dark room was not such a good idea. I got the fucking chills.
Besides that the keyboard sounds really good
2:28 why you make me feel that bro
Btw shoobs modifiers arent stuck basically you take off the keycap but its gonna be loose and still in the keyboard and then you shake it from side to side and continue pulling it and it should come out
Your videos have truly evolved into something special
Damn bruh why this shit make me nostalgic
Omg the thocc, make a playlist of every thocc, it will be fun to sleep with thocc
Honestly this layout kinda slaps
honestly though first video I've seen where I actually like the sound of the tungstens
Shoobs was a Master Yi Main. Now I like him even more xD
I was not expecting The Caretaker to make an appearance. Kudos to you sir.
This guy really took the PE foam out of a Mr Suit, cut it up, and put it in a Razer BlackWidow
Nah that intro was a movie
not bad shoobs, not bad at all
I luv u shoobs ☺️
I love how the intro is formatted like an SCP documentary film.
I think that shoobs should be an anime voice actor
THOCC
THOCC
lol for clipping the 5 pins into 3 pins, that's what I call true dedication
That AP yi reference though! XD
Shoobs have you ever wondered what paint thinner would feel like on peeled skin
I like the melty blood music
OMG the intro is enough to get film theory thinking this is an arg
great vid shoobs.
I wonder how alps would sound with pe foam
sacrilege
wake up babe shoobs posted a new video
why does that almost sound better than my mr suit with zakus

Also, Shoobs! you can actually take those pieces of the stabilizer off of the modifier keycaps and it's just a Cherry Hex underneath! :O ...
I have a TKC1800 with Jades at work. My coworkers love it.
I had to buy a vintage case and the tkc1800 parts seperately because I failed to buy a full kit on time. I wish you luck with your build o7
@@WillThat I bet they love it haha 🤣
@@_ExTitus hope that goes well! Are you doing cherry MX style switches or Alps sense you're going vintage?
RIP Tungsten legs
I'm totally going to be modding mine in the near future :P We'll see if it goes as well as this one did! I'll tag you when I post it. Good video, fam
Gonna do this with my Blackwidow
Me at 5am: Ok this is the last Video I will watch before sleeping!
Goddamnit Shoobs not again
actually made my hair stand up though lol
this thing thoccs
i can't believe that you made costar stabs good sounding
It's a lot easier to make them sound in my experience
You can just use all of your force to pull out the stab things and put them on your keycaps and at-least be missing one stab piece
T H O C C
thanks shoobs, very cool
I feel physical pain watching this
Dang opening it would be a nightmare LoL
Great vid! keep up the good work
bro that intro was scary
Ten years of shame on that keyboard
Mission success
That knock freaked me the FUCK out i just bought new headphones deadass today.
very nice video
All hail the king!
Bruh, why do you do these things? And why do I always watch. 😂
Great vid btw. Keep it up Bachoo and Shoobs.
Love these uncanny intros!
At this point I think you can make an analog horror about mechanical keyboards lol, nice intro.
Thanks for sharing
this monstrosity :shoobscry:
shoobs upload LETS GOOO
Shoobs sounds like a younger/higher pitched version of taeha types.
As soon as I saw the title I thought impossible
Intropog
should've tape modded it with gummy o-ring
So in other words Shoobs has already gotten to the point where he makes his magnum opus
