I'm Adam the electrician based in the south of England (Portsmouth).

Another good job, mate. It's so frustrating as a UK spark constantly going around having to put right what others couldn't be bothered to do correctly in the first place. There's a real "throw it in, get paid and run" culture within the industry. It gives the good guys a bad name...

Sounds like I’m defending this install which I’m not!! Just the height issue. IET recommend 750mm but can be anything as long as rams carried out.
Apprentice question here. Would you need to bond the stainless post for the EV charger?

But, and i only want your thoughts, cables buried in the ground should have protection against mechanical damage. Is there an ultra EV swa you could have used??
There is a SWA version, the cable is in a reinforced cable duct so that is mechanical protection in my eyes 👍👍
Thanks for the reply. As long as you are happy, it wasn't exactly buried in a flower bed, so very minimal risk anyone's going to be putting a spade in the ground.

If the SWA was long enough to reach the zappi, you could have used a harvi for the CT and save up on EV ultra, wiska box and cat5 cable
The SWA was not long enough with the height increase and I always hardwire the CT unless absolutely impossible to do
Hi mate love your videos, how much should I be paying for just installing a Ohme Home pro charger, there is a cable run of around 1.5m and the charger will be located adjacent consumer unit on outside wall. Random I know but help would be appreciated?👍👍
Hi mate thank you first of all 👍👍 Depends on other factors also, are you having a separate consumer unit installed for the charger? I your bonding in place? Is the charger 5m or 8m tethered?
@@sotaelectrical I’m hoping there is room on the existing board, the house was fully rewired 10 years ago so would think the bonding is all good. The unit is 8m tethered
Do you ever use the Harvi units to save the hassle of running cat 5?
I only use a harvi as a last resort, hardwire is always better and I have had experience where the Harvi drops out
I think most of the dodgy Ev charger instals I’ve seen have been Rolec. I cringe everytime I see one now! Lol

Do you put current transformers on every installation even with a 100 amp cutout?
Yes
Good chance the 100A cutout is actually an 80A. Best to always put in a CT Clamp.
That podpoint was never intstalled by an electrician. I'll tell you that for free.
No electrician would leave that overhang and floating.
Also podpoints dont come with the ingress protection washers like the zappi do. Podpoints are dreadful.
Still on my 8 year old tethered pod point, like the simple design of it.
I worked for podpoint for a year, and also have one at my own home. If it works for you then who is to argue, but I can speak from experience they are certainly not the best on market.
