- Dr. Umar Johnson comes to Atlanta for an all Star Kwanzaa seminar with guest stars Killer Mike and David Banner. This event takes place at the beautiful Shrine of the Black Madonna. Special guest in the audience - Rapper TI and R&B singer Usher.
Facts...they gave me diploma & I failed 12th grade...I decided to go to trade school & realized I was reading at a 6 grade level.....now I spend my time educating myself...I thank GOD I'm doing good

Dr. Umar is my brother and he works hard for his people just as we all should. We as pillars in our community must be the leaders not one person. We are the saviors of our children, our history and our future. It's time to take action.
As we stand up. We must talk less and work more. Once again talk less and work more! Once AGAIN talk less work more...
Last, what are we doing to be leaders, we must read, we must do the work. The ancestors left us a template. So are we waiting for some one else ... Get up get busy ... Let's work!

I also liked the sun vs ice people analogy. As a history teacher, it summarizes similar ideas I've been fiddling with for a while now in trying to understand why the Europeans behaved the way they did towards the natives who did nothing but welcome them where ever they went and clearly they didn't share the European's hunger for materialism, capitalism, power and control.

"....a slave willingly submits.." Before an enslaved person submitted he was Beaten, Branded, Tar & Feather, chained, starved, taken from family/land/culture, had their hand and/or foot cut off from birth to death. Enslaved people who submitted were tortured into submission.

when my child was younger I Prayed and Prayed for what I should do....I was still and waited for an answer. The school was coming at me with all sorts of things. All I wanted was for my child to be ok. Through Prayer and me being a single Mom decided Not to put my child on those drugs all while being Judged Hard behind Me for my decisions and actually Still to This day....I did what I thought (through Prayer) what was Best for My Child. Still Praying for My Child. People don't realize sometimes through their Judgments and Harsh words (behind the backs) that there's Unconditional Love that you Want/Need the best for your child. A lot of us can be emotional by Nature. Who are you to say Anything Especially if you can't/Won't help the family member. Ok blame it on a name you were called out of anger from the child that was Struggling. Not condoning the name calling and at the sametime no One Ever quietly sat back and thought what made it come to this. Why would this (then) child that was reaching out but felt Slighted at that moment be so rude to people We All Know they Loved. I Stand by My decision... #somepplOnlybeTotallyfairwhenitsthierOwn

Also I noticed that Dr. Umar kept the cap off of the bottle of water that he drank from. I know this observation does not seem important but the action speak volumes about what he speaks of. Is there any reaction from the audience; that is, an interaction that causes a conversation instead of getting "preached" to about his views. Just a thought.
