  • Kevin Durant wants to eventually model his game after Tracy McGrady. Durant got a view Wednesday night of just how good McGrady is, even with a gimpy leg. Nursing a left knee injury, McGrady put together a second half that showed even with one good leg he's still one of the best in the game. McGrady scored 18 of his 28 points in the second half and took over in the final 90 seconds, both scoring and passing, helping the Rockets rally to beat the SuperSonics 109-107. KD had 25 Pts for the Sonics.

    injured tmac vs rookie durant, seems fair. oh and i think i heard the announcer say durant idolized tmac maybe that is why they have similar gameplay. i see tmac in durant and paul george and a bit in melo.

      So whats your point??? The kid sucks now, he never had quick speed now he's just a jump shooter like every other young fag playing in the NBA today. NBA today is boring and soft, soon every player in every position will just shoot 3pointers all game long.

    Well many people say T-mac a failure LOL. I would like to be that "missed potential": almost 1000 career games played. 7 NBA all star. 3 time nba scoring champion. NBA most Improved player. 18.000 points. more than 200 mil dolars earnings (endorsment and contracts). One of the best NBA superstar for almost a decade. OH yes what a failure. LOL. well let me be that failure ....Pleaaaaaseeee. Also consider that injuries destroyed his career, not only his own, but Yao ming's too...

    Taking a look at Tmac, you can almost see the direct result of the surgeries on his knees and back. His body looks shorter, stiffer, and just in general less lengthy than his Orlando Magic days. It's almost like they clipped off sections of his legs and torso.. His lack of elevation on jumpshots and dunks adds to that illusion for me, but it's amazing how, even in his Rockets days, his body was already not in the shape that it was in when he was Kobe's undisputed rival.

    • @poly_neso7212
      @poly_neso7212 6 років тому +4

      Danesh Zhao-Graham I ALWAYS THOUGHT THIS. He looks super lengthy and always looked the tallest/most lengthy on the court when he was in Orlando. After surgeries he stopped looking like the the biggest on the court.

    • @SamualWilliams
      @SamualWilliams 6 років тому

      POLY_ neso Uhhhh it's called weight gain and Kevin Durant? KD is like taller than T-Mac, also more lengthy.

    • @poly_neso7212
      @poly_neso7212 6 років тому +5

      Samual Williams Its a direct result of the injections/painkillers he was taking. He had to have fluids drained in 07+ from knee and shoulder after games. These are a huge reason he was gaining weight because he had to change diet aswell. Also I said he looked smaller as in he doesnt look like he covers much of the court like he did when he was in Orlando.

    • @poly_neso7212
      @poly_neso7212 6 років тому +1

      Samual Williams Kd 6'10 with a 7'4 wingspan. Tmac listed as 6'8 but most players say hes more like 6'9 and he has 7'2 wingspan.

    • @SamualWilliams
      @SamualWilliams 6 років тому +6

      POLY_ neso I see what you mean, but I believe that just has to do with his strides not being as long. He didn't seem to move as quickly here. I think the weight gain and injuries hurt his ability to run up and down the floor as fast as he could before.

    How quickly people forget...
    Tmac was arguably better than Kobe, offensively and defensively... but the load he had to carry... he brought a team with a rookie Mike Miller... scrubs like Pat Garrity, Andrew Declercq, Armstrong, washed up players in Shawn Kemp, Bo Outlaw... to THE PLAYOFFS... all on his back with no help from Grant Hill... it was amazing what he did...

      Tracy is a great player but where the fuck was he when kobe finally got rid of shaq and put the league on shutdown averaging nearly 36 a game. Tmac had a pretty stacked team that year but he was done by that point he had no longevity and he was only 26 years old so cut the bullshit in their primes kobe was fat more polished then Tmac.

      @fred-shieh 8 років тому +6

      jamil hollinshed Part of Kobe's greatness was that he was able to stay healthy, but averaging 35ppg wasn't so 'great'... volume shooting on a bad team is nothing to be proud of, incredible performance yes, but that adds nothing to his legacy... we remember the three peat and then back to back way more than his down years even though his stats were made during those period.
      And yes, Tmac and Yao was never really healthy together, and I wouldn't call that a stacked team? Rafer Alston was never a good PG... and an old juwan howard manning the PF spot... etc... the team was good, but it wasn't very athletic...

    at this point in his stage you could tell that McGrady's injuries were just slowing him down but he still had the sickest pump fake I've seen from a player and Durant was so advanced for a player his age, that mid-range game was money as soon as he stepped on the court.

    The years t mac was in Orlando kobe wasn't better than him. T mac over took kobe in Orlando and was the best player in the nba at 21 or 22 years old. I think t mac was just scratching the surface of his talents with the magic. Had McGrady not got hurt he would of stayed better then kobe. T mac showed no mercy going in for dunks and didn't give a dam who was waiting he went right through them. You just heard kobe's name more cause of all their playoff runs. You put McGrady wit Shaq he's getting rings to.

    • @l9ikjam

      But what about all if the playoff runs without shaq? T mac was a beast but his best season doesn't even come close to comparing with kobe's best season

      I was playing middle-school ball during this time. I remember the coach would yell at us when we would shoot 3s, as the rule of thumb was that a longer shot had a lower percentage of getting hit. Now it's all about 3s, lol.
