I love the leaf shape on your common English alders - more delicate than the native species growing here in western Canada. The branch structure is really nice on yours - you must have been developing them for some time now. Do they bloom for you?
Thanks Sue. They have been in development for a long time the second one at least 15 yrs I would think. They haven't been reliable flowerers unfortunately. There will be an update on my Royal Alders soon which have a most wonderful cut leaf form which is even nice IMO. Stay safe
Excellent. What species ate you going to use? Some of the cat litter trays have a very attractive shape and once you've drilled a few holes away you go. Stay safe
Almost any tree or shrub can be bonsai. I have a couple of Hazel . The leaves do come down in size after a few years but they make better medium to large bonsai as they won't get tiny. Good luck. Stay safe.
@@SidsTrees Thanks for the reply - I will take a closer look at them with a view to getting them out of the ground early Spring. But I could do some initial pruning while they are in the garden.
Very nice movement in the trunks, especially the second one. Great looking trees Sid. Stay safe.
Thanks Mick. Very kind. You stay safe too.

Love a nice alder
Agreed. They are amongst my favourite species. Stay safe
I love alders, they are similar to birches but are still distinct and unique...
Does this one demand a lot of water?
Very thirsty. I usually stand the pot in a saucer of water throughout summer. Stay safe
Hi Syd,went to my local tesco today and seen a cat litter tray ideal for a forest,£3,so got a couple, stay safe 👍👍

@@lawrencemcnally3164 Cool.
I have some Hazel trees that seem to have taken root in the garden - wondering if they would make good Bonsai? The leaves do look a bit large.
