The last female I had as a pet was 2 years and 8 days old. Had a customer that got one from the same batch that lasted almost 2 and half years, wonderful species. Good video :)

Thank you truly for this video! I absolutely adore deaf leaf mantids and been wanting to keep one myself. Though i've been having a hard time trying to find any good videos on how to take care of these fellas and struggling! So your video was an absolute lifesaver to have and super informative, please keep up the good work!
If I may ask too, what would you describe their temperament to be? Such as are they more skittish or friendly to hold and if there's anything to take note of for their personalities

@@FeelingFreezy you’re welcome and thank you very much for the kind comment! As for personality I find it differs between individuals (which is one of the reasons I love mantids, each comes with its unique personality). Nymphs are always going to be more energetic that adults and as they grow older they will generally become more chilled in nature. Mantids In general are very friendly and inquisitive creatures and do tolerate gentle handling very well although care must be taken with males because they can fly!

My cat eyed mantis is about to molt, are they similar to dead leaf mantis in any way? How to care for them to be specific?

The care is pretty similar with temps and humidity being roughly the same. Cat eyed mantis are a bit more picky when it comes to housing and food however they seem to prefer flying prey and mesh enclosures as they can’t grip well onto plastics or glass. Hope this helps.
