- High speed Shinkansen action at Nasushiobara station on the Tohoku Shinkansen line.
Nasushiobara station is located in the Utsunomiya - Sendai section and regularly sees Shinkansen trains passing through at their maximum speed of 320kmph.

I love the E5 Shinkansen. Its shiny green body makes it look cool.
I remember when I first witnessed a shinkansen passing by a station during my Japan trip. My jaw dropped and I asked my mother, "Do we have anything faster than that at home?" She replied, "No. Not even close."

That can’t be 320 km/h. They can travel faster than that.
It is. I timed the E5+E6 combo, which is 401 m long, and my crude stopwatch attempt gave me 4.63 seconds. That comes out to about 312 km/h, which is definitely in the ballpark (and also within the margin of error for possible 320 km/m).
The Tohoku Shinkansen are limited to 320km/h top running speed. There are plans to raise to top speed to 360 in the near future though.
I,v seen top fuel dragsters go 325 mph. Way faster. It still seems slow to me too at about 200 mph., which is 325kph

Been on E5 from Tokyo to Shin Hakodate-Hokotu, it was smooth and quiet as.. Glad i experienced it before pandemic happened

Went here late last year, E5 went through at full speed, my camera decided it was out of battery. Switched to my phone but every other train that went through was going much slower! Never mind, maybe I'll get back there later this year!

I didn't recall seeing any drivers in the rear cab, but I never really paid close attention to it.
