    SONETO DE PETRARCA
    O último dos três sonetos de Petrarca, na música
    De Liszt, "Eu vi na Terra trajes angelicais", expressa
    As belezas celestiais no mundo do sol, a clássica
    Inspiração dos mundos felizes à Terra interessa.
    As lágrimas terrenas convertidas em luz, chorando
    Numa concentração mais doce de todas as outras
    São blandícias que chegam no planeta suspirando
    Esses momentos inefáveis de beleza são amostras.
    Deixando as montanhas de fogo girarem e os rios
    Permanecer em seus cursos correndo ao mar, tanta
    Doçura renovando ambientes, chegando augúrios.
    Regozigemo-nos todos com a alegria que chegou
    Nos tempos da pandemia, isto anima e acalanta.
    Sabendo que das trevas um ser de luz se restaurou. (*)

    I read one of the reviews from Rosenblatt ( or somewhere else - I can't remember where exactly ); and in this Lizst sonnet I hear why the reporter/critic/reviewer evoked the word 'baritenor" when describing Mr. Brownlee's voice ! This is just simply most divine !

    • @xavieralberto1176
      @xavieralberto1176 6 років тому

      Browlee's voice is a true tenor voice. If he's a baritenor what is Pav? Of, course this critic's remark is one man's opinion but I wish he'd done some homework before uttering this nonsense. Now you are repeating it, unfortunately. This is how people get misinformed and miseducated. Just a matter of using your own ears and cimparing to other tenors.. When given the time and dedication,the ear educates itself. Good luck.

    To get real, not racial here - but I think we haven't heard the best of opera yet - we haven't heard what opera can REALLY sound like. Why? Because African American voices of music haven't been yet revealed in this genre of music as wonderfully as I think we shall see. Jessye Norman, Leontyne Price, Kathleen Battle JUST to name a few have proven that the Black voice is quite superior is tone, sound, and warmth. But most of all feeling. I really don't want to offend anyone. Truly. But there *IS* something very special there.
    You see and hear it in Soul, RnB/Hip Hop, Gospel, and Jazz. The Black voice can just seem to do things that others can't. So if Opera ever really opened its arms to the black vocal community (and vice versa!) - you would see REAL gems like Lawrence here. Of course training, talent, and time are all needed to make a voice sound like what it should. But we also all know that genes - like for diaphragm, lung capacity, and vocal strength, are all something that matters too. African American singers represent the best of America and I for one would love to hear more from them in opera. How about you?

    Lol. Good thing the pianist knows how to collaborate since Mr. Brownlee skipped a bar of rest... Pity.
    And Mr. Burnside played beautifully, in my humble, yet professional, opinion.

    • @cafeitalia1
      @cafeitalia1 7 років тому

      Didn't hear a skipped bar, but I did hear many over-extended rubati that I felt were a bit out of place. But Bravo Larry! Superb singing!
      I deeply disagree with your opinion on Mr. Burnside. Instead of it sounding like the love song that it is, it sounded more like a rough romp in the hay. Warren Jones, where were you?

    • @dillard76
      @dillard76 6 років тому +1

      You didn't notice the bar of skipped rest because Mr. Burnside graciously and skillfully saved Brownlee's butt. Check "egualmente"...
