I've been to Bang Saen twice. It is definitely a 99% Thai holiday destination. Jomtien would be a better choice for your Mom, because English is widely understood and 100 different western restaurants to have a meal. It is low season so less crowded now. Jomtien Beach is pretty good.
I agree with more English speakers in Jomtien

I was in Sriracha. They have the Robinsons mall big C the turtle Temple is there there’s not a whole lot to do there unless you’re visiting and have family. We’re very close friends and that’s why I stayed there. My best friends wife lives in Sriracha there’s also the crocodile farm and a tiger farm there
Hi Chuck & Paige, we love Bangsaen stayed their for 4months and go back regularly only about 2hrs from wherevwe stay just now.
Love visiting the sea world at the University net to the Hospital. Highly recommend.

Bang Saen is a good place, but consider the horrible traffic jams and lack of parking space over the weekend and back-to-back holidays. I recommend Sriracha. It was based on Japanese business people, but now it is very friendly to all kinds of foreign people who stay long-term. Shopping, food, and accommodation are well-established now. Especially, not far from Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Bang Saen is very nice during the week however it gets very busy at the weekends as it is so close to Grung Thep.

Hey Chuck and Paige, I have been in America for the past month and still have 2 more months to go. I have been enjoying your videos and miss Thailand very much. It was sticker shock the first time I went to the grocery store to buy stuff to eat. The prices have doubled or tripled over the past 4 years. I can hardly wait to get back to Thailand.

Stay clear of Baan Saen at weekends and bank holidays as all of Bangkok decends on it when traffic stalls and parking is double banked. Beach and beach road become filthy and toilets are disgusting

There are many Japanese engineers and executives in Sri-rasha, so the city caters more to them. Some condominium units have Japanese designs. The city has japanese communities. Hotels there offer good Japanese food. Japanese tend to socialise with themselves and have a "group think" mentality.

Is it not customary in Thai hotels to give 2 key cards? Then y'all can use one key card to keep the air conditioner on while you're out. If they don't, is it rude to ask for a key card for each of you?

I’m thinking about retiring in the Philippines and what I can gather is 15,000 is for a wife and you 10,000 is for one person for long stay visa personally I’m going to do the visa for three years and I can renew it for another three years go out of the country and come back and restart it from what I understand and I’ve been looking for the last year and a half again I may not like it. That’s why I’m doing the, three year visa not out much if I go home but got nothing here so I probably be staying in the Philippines

Paige I guess must be such a sunshine in your life, we need to comfort and enjoy their companionship in both good and bad days. I'm not a "happy" person myself but my wife keeps me motivated and she is positive and cheerful of nature. Days when she is a little down it is my turn to comfort and cheer her up.
