Former athletes aren’t always the best options. I interned at NBC Sports in NYC - Jerome Bettis was AWFUL. He didn’t watch film, didn’t put in the work. He was one of the nicest guys but rested on his playing career. Rodney Harrison on the other hand was a student of it, he watched film, made calls to scouts, etc. It hurts my soul to say, but Tiki Barber was another disaster. He just didn’t take the time to prepare and was like a fish out of water. Point is, a former player isn’t always a superior option to a non-athlete. If anything, it can be a crutch because they simply rest on their laurels.

Then they strong arm the providers by forcing them through propaganda to carry 4-5 channels on a low tier cable package. When you add to the fact that ESPN is owned by Disney, and you have 3-4 Disney channels on that same tier… that consortium makes a ton of cash per channel, per household. ESPN is also the reason behind all the College Conference realignment as well.
