I will refrain from sounding too certain, but I do believe the plumbata were thrown much like you would throw a stick, gripping at the rear end and flinging it, instead of throwing it like a sports dart. There's a lot more power in this throw, and the plumbata stabilizes fairly quickly in flight. Tod's Workshop has a few good videos on the subject. I think you should do a video with this throw.
