At 5:40, the issue is that the first two hooks are into the mid-section where there is no padding and the final slash is to the back of the calf, where there is minimal protection. All three of those hurt, so it's normal to turn around and politely ask for an explanation after the play.

On the Reily hit, the player from the Senators broke one of the unwritten rules of hockey with the hard slap shot on the empty net. Just put the puck in the net and keep it moving. Reily took exception to that and handled it. He shouldn't have cross checked him in the head though. Usually that's an immediate fight.

Some context on pulling the goalie:
It's not a flex by the winning team, it's desperation by the losing team. Even though you are far more likely to be scored on than to score when you pull the goalie, it doesn't matter.
Lets say in the last 2 minutes (which is when goalies are typically pulled), there's a 5% chance that you score, and a 5% chance that you get scored on. If you're down 1 goal, you're 95% to lose, since if you don't score you lose.
If pulling the goalie makes it 10% that you score and 50% that you get scored on, you're still only 90% chance to lose, since losing by 1 and losing by 2 is the same from the perspective of the standings, but forcing overtime gets you a point.

that 1st incident just happened & there was a ton of back & forth here in Canada about "the code" & the changing times. I'm 45 & can tell you until recently I'd assume that if a player did something like that he was going to pay for it 🤷‍♂ However I'm not a young man like the players are today & they have to decide amongst themselves what is their code. I'll never like over the top hot dogging. You should check out brawl between the Habs & Flyers in 1987. The Habs had taken to waiting for opponents to leave ice after warming up & then scoring on the oppositions now empty net. Philly did NOT like that & let it be known. Warmup happens. Now ended, the Flyers see that all the Habs players have left the ice , so they feel comfortable to leave, only to see 2 Habs players sneaking back on ice to go put puck in net . What happens next is INSANITY by todays standards. Back then it made sense according to that eras code. Notice that because this is all pre game there are no refs

But I did here that the Ottawa player - Greig, (and the rest of the Ottawa team) were getting annoyed with their fans who were cheering on the Leafs the whole night (don't hold me to that - but at one point, the media was talking about that)...the game was being played in Ottawa.

I am a Canadian and a long time hockey fan. Any hockey players that respond to an aggresive empty net goal with violence due to somehow being triggered from a violation of an unwritten rule are completely ridiculous. If you don't want to give the opposing team an opportunity like that, score more goals than them. You don't look like men when you suffer from a petulant tantrum.

Maybe do a video on the riots in Vancouver after their loss to Boston and what led up to it.
Also, you lads have good hockey 2 hours away in Sweden. Ask around for a heated match and take Ryan Air for 20 bucks.

Gotta score the empty net goals. The Maple leafs are the biggest crybabies in the league. Kuch had the highest IQ in the NHL, did whatever he could to prevent the empty net goal cuz penalty would get wiped out of he scores. If he missed they are still alive.

those refs are huge. Some are taller and thicker than the players and they don't have pads on. I went to a game and sat on ice level and the refs kept blocking my view. They are huge guys. 7 feet tall or more without skates. They can handle and separate two or more trained athletes like they were children and can take a punch or two.

there is a video of Tie Domi pulling a fan into the penalty box and just rains fists on him. The Dallas Stars tired to get him on the team and Domi refused by saying ....Texas was full of bull shit ...or he cant stand the smell of shit in Tx....I don't remember (there is a video of it) I thought it was hilarious. Just cant quote it. Im close though..

well, when your franchise sucks for as long and as bad as the Leafs have, that is a typical reaction especially from a Domi, his dad is probably still pissed from his ass whooping at the fists of Bobby Probert.

I'll still give Domi props for sccrapping Probert. Can't be easy fighting a giant when you're 4 feet tall.
