It about bad oil not grade, Before 2010 model all honda scooter can 20w 40, I have used 20w 40 in 2010 model acitva since 5 years there are no problems.
Important is oil is branded and grade according manual.
So branded oil is important like shell, castrol, motul, mobil, honda, yamaha etc.
110 cc and 125 cc All bike and scooter company requirement only oil grade10 W 30
20 W 40 is havy

Old engine design according 20w 40, and new engine design 10w 30.
If they design according 20w 40 than it no harm engine. You can also read old bike/scooter user manual for confirmation.
