What is the best area to stay in Chiang Mai? Well, let me show you an area with incredible street food, Nnature & temples, all within walking distance!
Over the last 6 years, I've stayed in Chiang Mai many times as both a tourist and a digital nomad. When it comes to the best places in Chiang Mai I've tried old city, I've stayed near the Central mall, but no area comes close to Suthep. This area is most famous for the popular Doi Suthep temple, but for for my money, it's easily the best place to stay in Chiang Mai.
This one area in the shadow of the mountain has some of the best cafes in Chiang Mai for working, as well as the best green spaces and hiking trails - all within touching distance of the city centre. So stop looking for the best places to stay in Chiang Mai, because you've just found it! Suthep makes living in chiang mai a complete dream.
In this video, I walk from Nimman, to Chiang Mai University Thailand to see the stunning Angkaew Reservoir. From there, I turn onto the Suthep Road where you can find the best street food chiang mai - as well as the Dcondo Campus Resort, where I stayed many years ago.

"Selfie Central"...exactly. Great business model. Coffee costs them hardly anything so they are making bucket loads they just need to create a unique looking shop and people wont care because they can take photos and show off on instagram!
