Forgot to mention that the old acog magnification is not the same as the current acog. The old one was 3.0 but then got reduced to 2.5, and the new marksman scopes on dmrs is the old acog, just redesigned
Even though it's been revived. I don't think it's a comeback because of the way gunplay works in Siege now. I ultimately think that had they slowed down the gunplay and movement, but kept old recoil, the ACOG and perhaps even if they added the 1.5 wouldn't have been the huge balancing issue they both respectively became. The reason why TDM meta has gotten as bad as it has is because of a combination of laser beam recoil, the prioritization of prefiring corners, and the lack of any sort of stamina system.
after Frost and Buck - valk and Blackbeard appierd. Valk could throw there cams in prep face outside and there lasted and also don't glow very bright. So you habe very good outside cams and Blackbeard with a 10.000 HP rifle shield that was later nerved to 1.000hp, 500hp and now 150 I guess. Armory spot in boarder was an easy win with blacky

Blackbeard should lose his shield and get a M72 LAW for his gadget. 1-2 shots max but can punch a vault hole in an electrified reinforced wall. Doesn't destroy the electric unless it destroys where it's attached and can be grabbed and destroyed by jager ads, wamai puck, and aruni gate

Combine the fact that you only get one or maybe two shots and they can be intercepted there's a decent chance your shot will be wasted. They could do 1 shot AP and the other HE and make the HE essentially just an ash charge while the AP puts a hole in reinforced. Either way it's easier to balance than eliminating the CORE aspect of the game ie OHKO headshots

i wish i still love the acog but the truth is 1.5 and 2.0 are just way better in the current state bcs movement is so slow now and they're just way more clean that it helps u to flick and survive more with the slow movement. meanwhile the old acog was widely used for headshot bcs u can move and ads faster to escape from a situation
The thing is I don't really care about the zoom but the sight itself is really nice I wish they would add more customization to pick how ur sight looks regardless of zoom like 1.0 and 1.5 acogs
you are one of the first persons i see saying they prefer the acog sight,generally speaking the circles-dots combo is much easier to aim with,it would be nice to add more customization to pick sights(kinda like pubg had with their reflex you are able to choose triangle dot or anything)but i doubt it will happen since not many people will use the sight similar to acog

I miss how gory a singular bullet impact would spill and stain the surrounding enironment. The Acog would heighten my attention to those details during a gunfight. It's what hooked me initially. Mag dumping on a target used to feel so visceral and brutal through an Acog, compared to today's feel with the x1.5. It's still satifying, but definitely lost some spectacle. It hurts moderately as of late with the looming/continuing absence of the Acog.
I came back to the game after like a 3 year break. I used to use the acog on thermites gun. I tried using the 1.5 and 2.0 scopes on it to get with the meta but just could not hit anything with it. I switched back to the acog and literally felt like Benja when challenging fights. instantly headshotting whoever i was fighting. Close or long range. I dont know why, but the acog still feels better to me on thermites gun to this day despite maybe the other scopes being better for the majority.
Watching older footage Vs more recent I've noticed that people used to play by adsing and then unadsing. This was possible because of the faster aim down sight speed and facilitated the use of a more magnified optic as if you wanted to zoom out you just did. Now with the slow ads, going un adsed is dangerous as the amount of time taken to zoom back in will most likely get you killed. This is less of a danger with the 2x because you can see more and so don't need to un ads as with the ACOG.
I started playing whit this game back in red crow on xbox. It was fun, and simple at the same time, but now… we have map/operator bans, more complex map desings and many more. This is not just about the GOAT ACOG downfall, it’s about the whole game… and damn i wish i could bring back those good old days…😔

I always found higher recoil made it easier to hit my shots because I get more of a grip on the guns recoil pattern faster, which helps me predict where I need to position my sights and how to maintain a steady shot.
Siege at this point is like really different. I don't even get to play the version that i fell in love with. I got into it back in 2017 and One of my favorite way to play the game was using Acog's on Ash, Zofia, Buck and IQ (my most played OP's). I miss that now and not to mention the atmosphere and lightning was a Different vibe back then...
Yeah everyone else in the comments talking about how 1.5x and 2x are technically better but as you say, it was fun just to dick around with the acogs and do stupid shit, regardless of if we won or lost.
Watching this video, it reminds me of what I used to think balanced the acog from 1x sights back then. The acog wasn't the cleanest sight to have, but the 2.5x zoom was it's advantage, where as 1x scopes like red dot and reflex were super clean and straight forward. I think adding other zoom sights that were arguably nicer to look at than the 1x like the dominant 1.5x, is another huge reason for acogs downfall.
I remember having acog on every single gun that had it available and whoever didn't have it you'd get called a noob immediately. Now there's not a single gun that I use acog on. Crazy how times change.
I miss acogs and still use it when i can. In a game about holding angles and 1 headshot kills accuracy matters. Its so much easier in my opinion to see and visibly linenthe shotn up. Also on many guns i actually find it easier to control the recoil. My accuracy definetly suffered with removal of acogs
You missed a very important fact, the old Acog was apparently a 3x zoom for five years and when they added the new 3x scope they kept the zoom from the old Acog and changed the zoom of the Acog down to the current zoom. It's confusing and very strange, but you can look up proof, coreross for example proved it at the time.
Id pick it back up on c8sfw any day. They really hated buck for a few years taking his frags first and then completely butchering his optics. At least he got a gone 6 now but that doesnt change alot. ACOG C8SFW was so much fun once you learned to handle its recoil.

3:14 as I would pick up Ash when I felt like the original or the 1.2/5? Update of the red dot/holo worked so well with her. Although I and many people can agree that the 2.5x also was a nice addition for her, I feel the removal of her acog is the only nerf that I actually fully agree she needed. Even as an alibi main, i never got behind the idea of giving her a 1.5x, but originally removing from frost which she definitely needed at the time when new scopes were being discussed. Now after all the balancing I feel Ash is more than a great spot-she is literally the embodiment of what rainbow 6 represents: fast, able to hit hard, frag out, and secure position and hold for the team. Aside Sledge, she was the go to for a LOT of players since she really could have done it all of you played her right
ash is becoming better and better after the removal of nades from many opps,now when you need that shield down or to destroy bandits,ash is more commnly used for that,after the zofia buff she can be used too with her m762,so the two of them are making a comeback
I stopped playing in 3-ish years ago and barely came back this week, it was surreal seeing all of the new gadgets but as well the fact that when people talk about an ACOG they no longer talk about the sight that I remembered using back in 2019.
Honestly, ubis quest to make siege balanced was not worth it considering it was at the expense of fun. Everybody loved running around w ashe r4c when it was good, and i dont remember anyone complaining about jager(after getting the acog removed). They were just very strong picks that didnt rlly feel unfair to go up against. Nobody was asking to remove iq frags, etc, and while some changes are valid balance wise, i cant help but feel most of them were wanted at all.
Another thing I think is because of Siege’s lightings and graphics in the earlier days where it was much harder to see an enemy, alone or through effects without an acog.
Hit me the hardest when they removed it from the MP5. Actually was the last straw, and after 3 years of playing siege, I stopped playing Siege. Been thinking about trying it again tho
What I never understood in the Siege community all these years was how most people think adding and removing certain sight magnifications are actually a considerable balance change. Even pros fall for it, like how everyone dropped the ARX on Iana when it lost 1.5x, despite IMO being a much better weapon than the G36C otherwise. Hot take, but sight magnification really only matters for spawn peeks. Hell, most people are more accurate with the MPX on a 1x optic than they are with Zofia's primary with 2x, because when it comes down to it recoil and fire rate are most of what makes primaries good and bad in Siege.
Came when Frost was introduced but just never played seriously & deleted it & came back in 2020 for a few games w irl's. But now play which is sad when I go back on how I missed out on a lot, you can imagine how my old R6 mind was mindblown w no operator intros & all the new operators that were introduced 😂
I still run the highest magnification possible on pretty much every gun. I just use the russian 2.5 because it takes up less screen space. Especially vertically.

Fun fact: the acog on type 85 got almost remove because when community saw the patch note's they aren't happy about it this change's so ubisoft give hibana 1.5 and 2.5 scope.
I played since cav and capitao season and remember all the ACOGs running around. I came back a few months ago and was so surprised by all the new sights and nobody running acog.
I stopped playing for a very long time, and just started watching videos on siege today. I’m blown away that people don’t know about how meta the acog was forever, and I also didn’t know it wasn’t still meta.
Sometimes I forget how long I've been playing this game compared to the majority of the playerbase now. I forget how different the game was in Velvet Shell when I started playing
Best sight for me is definitely mp7 iron sight, it's basically 1x with best visibility, it is such a shame ubi never added it as normal sight option so you could play it on more than two guns.
I remember getting Ash's elite skin then it getting announced that her R4C was losing ACOG like a week after. That is probably when I started playing the game less and less lol

I personally like how recoil control has become increasingly difficult. It creates need for more tactical play and makes the loadout more of a factor when choosing operators. Also it adds to the learning curve experience. on MnK atleast.

I played so much when acog was the only zoomed scope that I just got too used to it and still use it on every gun it is available on. Mostly I like the crosshair as the arrow is just super clean and easy to use, as opposed to the other sights that obstruct more of your view.
No one seems to know this, but i remember when you had to PAY for each individual attatchment for all your guns. You had to pay renown if you wanted a holographic sight, but suprise, if you want that same holo for a different gun you had to buy it for that gun. Feels like nobody remembers that time...
Acog is back and 1.5 isn’t a 1.5 anymore and 2x is gone the 1.5 is a reticle for a 2.5x now so now it’s an acog but slightly more chunky and all the ops pretty well will have acog including f2 again and melusi is getting acog
You didn't mention the doc and rook acog, it was so prevalent, spawn peeking doc was so common. Everybody believed that ubisofts philosophy was that only 3 armor defenders could use an acog so when maestro and other 3 armors got theirs removed people were pretty confused
I kinda wish they remove the 1.5 and the 2 times scope form the game and replace it with the ACOG at least for attackers. The reason for why is like you said how ads speed has been reduced and recoil buffed making it harder to use the ACOG so players that can use it will have a harder time so not as easy as before making the 1x scope more likely to get picked even if the gun has the ACOG for it. And the reason for removing the 1.5 and 2 times is because like you said in your video how the 1.5 is the perfect mix for close to far range at least with the ACOG it has it down sides the 1.5 doesn’t making it really strong. But I doubt Ubisoft would ever do this change
For some reason that I cannot understand Ubi decided to make ACOG as rare as possible, some weapons that aren't even good at long ranges have it, meanwhile many DMRs dont even have access to it. What makes weapon worthy of ACOG? No one knows.
i remember the time where Maestro dominates the meta, the only Anchor who capable of dealing multiple choke points, gathers intel, denies site plant, can create rotations and has firepower enough to melt enemy team at distance, his camera combined with Jager's ADS sounds like complete BS at the time as Maestro cam glass didn't break after it gets punched

Exactly, his whole gadget is based around his gun, he has nothing else. Why not make his gun and him as an operator worth using.

before then, we only had 4 sights in the game, the holo, reflex, red dot and the acog, and the variants were only avaiable in certain guns

Thermite gun is one of the few that (if i Remember correctly) has never been nerfed or buffed because it always have been good and balamced
I would also add the AR33 on Thatcher and F90 on Gridlock to be solid guns with the ACOG

3:14 as I would pick up Ash when I felt like the original or the 1.2/5? Update of the red dot/holo worked so well with her. Although I and many people can agree that the 2.5x also was a nice addition for her, I feel the removal of her acog is the only nerf that I actually fully agree she needed. Even as an alibi main, i never got behind the idea of giving her a 1.5x, but originally removing from frost which she definitely needed at the time when new scopes were being discussed. Now after all the balancing I feel Ash is more than a great spot-she is literally the embodiment of what rainbow 6 represents: fast, able to hit hard, frag out, and secure position and hold for the team. Aside Sledge, she was the go to for a LOT of players since she really could have done it all of you played her right
ash is becoming better and better after the removal of nades from many opps,now when you need that shield down or to destroy bandits,ash is more commnly used for that,after the zofia buff she can be used too with her m762,so the two of them are making a comeback
I stopped playing in 3-ish years ago and barely came back this week, it was surreal seeing all of the new gadgets but as well the fact that when people talk about an ACOG they no longer talk about the sight that I remembered using back in 2019.

Honestly, ubis quest to make siege balanced was not worth it considering it was at the expense of fun. Everybody loved running around w ashe r4c when it was good, and i dont remember anyone complaining about jager(after getting the acog removed). They were just very strong picks that didnt rlly feel unfair to go up against. Nobody was asking to remove iq frags, etc, and while some changes are valid balance wise, i cant help but feel most of them were wanted at all.

Another thing I think is because of Siege’s lightings and graphics in the earlier days where it was much harder to see an enemy, alone or through effects without an acog.

Yeah the 2x scope just has too much clutter. If it had the same reticle as the 1.5x or 2.5x i would use it

I run acog on thermite and gridlock pretty often. I use 1.5 as well, but acog is still great if you use it properly tbh

I stoped playing around the time after blood orchid, and returned to the game a few weeks back, and I felt so strange not seeing the ACOG anywhere
Hit me the hardest when they removed it from the MP5. Actually was the last straw, and after 3 years of playing siege, I stopped playing Siege. Been thinking about trying it again tho
What I never understood in the Siege community all these years was how most people think adding and removing certain sight magnifications are actually a considerable balance change. Even pros fall for it, like how everyone dropped the ARX on Iana when it lost 1.5x, despite IMO being a much better weapon than the G36C otherwise. Hot take, but sight magnification really only matters for spawn peeks. Hell, most people are more accurate with the MPX on a 1x optic than they are with Zofia's primary with 2x, because when it comes down to it recoil and fire rate are most of what makes primaries good and bad in Siege.

Came when Frost was introduced but just never played seriously & deleted it & came back in 2020 for a few games w irl's. But now play which is sad when I go back on how I missed out on a lot, you can imagine how my old R6 mind was mindblown w no operator intros & all the new operators that were introduced 😂
I still run the highest magnification possible on pretty much every gun. I just use the russian 2.5 because it takes up less screen space. Especially vertically.

Fun fact: the acog on type 85 got almost remove because when community saw the patch note's they aren't happy about it this change's so ubisoft give hibana 1.5 and 2.5 scope.

I played since cav and capitao season and remember all the ACOGs running around. I came back a few months ago and was so surprised by all the new sights and nobody running acog.

Sometimes I forget how long I've been playing this game compared to the majority of the playerbase now. I forget how different the game was in Velvet Shell when I started playing

Best sight for me is definitely mp7 iron sight, it's basically 1x with best visibility, it is such a shame ubi never added it as normal sight option so you could play it on more than two guns.

I personally like how recoil control has become increasingly difficult. It creates need for more tactical play and makes the loadout more of a factor when choosing operators. Also it adds to the learning curve experience. on MnK atleast.
controller learning curve on siege is probably the hardest in any game ever. Mainly mechanically but this games hard ass learning curve adds to that.
On PC yeah too easy but on consoles, nope, already challenging as it is

I played so much when acog was the only zoomed scope that I just got too used to it and still use it on every gun it is available on. Mostly I like the crosshair as the arrow is just super clean and easy to use, as opposed to the other sights that obstruct more of your view.
I remember Blitz was the scariest shield op ever due to his spamming flashes, and his ads time.
I think we need 1 operator with smg that has acog, at least 1, so u can vibe and feel good with it
No one seems to know this, but i remember when you had to PAY for each individual attatchment for all your guns. You had to pay renown if you wanted a holographic sight, but suprise, if you want that same holo for a different gun you had to buy it for that gun. Feels like nobody remembers that time...
i recently changed to the 2x on hibana from acog because it just doesn’t feel the recoil as much, with acog the reticle seems to bounce more

Acog is back and 1.5 isn’t a 1.5 anymore and 2x is gone the 1.5 is a reticle for a 2.5x now so now it’s an acog but slightly more chunky and all the ops pretty well will have acog including f2 again and melusi is getting acog

You didn't mention the doc and rook acog, it was so prevalent, spawn peeking doc was so common. Everybody believed that ubisofts philosophy was that only 3 armor defenders could use an acog so when maestro and other 3 armors got theirs removed people were pretty confused
I kinda wish they remove the 1.5 and the 2 times scope form the game and replace it with the ACOG at least for attackers. The reason for why is like you said how ads speed has been reduced and recoil buffed making it harder to use the ACOG so players that can use it will have a harder time so not as easy as before making the 1x scope more likely to get picked even if the gun has the ACOG for it. And the reason for removing the 1.5 and 2 times is because like you said in your video how the 1.5 is the perfect mix for close to far range at least with the ACOG it has it down sides the 1.5 doesn’t making it really strong. But I doubt Ubisoft would ever do this change

For some reason that I cannot understand Ubi decided to make ACOG as rare as possible, some weapons that aren't even good at long ranges have it, meanwhile many DMRs dont even have access to it. What makes weapon worthy of ACOG? No one knows.
i remember the time where Maestro dominates the meta, the only Anchor who capable of dealing multiple choke points, gathers intel, denies site plant, can create rotations and has firepower enough to melt enemy team at distance, his camera combined with Jager's ADS sounds like complete BS at the time as Maestro cam glass didn't break after it gets punched
