I like this interview because she seems so...normal. Like the kind of person about which someone would say something like "oh yeah! That's my friend's mom. We used to carpool going to baseball practice, and she insisted I come over for dinner regularly when my dad was out of a job and we didn't have much money. They never had a lot, but there was always good food and spirits around the house, I always felt welcome there".
I kinda thought mezzo, but I agree: not contralto. contralto speaking voice is almost like a man (ex: Nathalie Stutzmann). people don't realize that dramatic soprano is generally a fairly low voice. would have loved to hear more of those lovely chest tones in her singing (my only criticism of an otherwise exceptional singer)
Exactly!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one that senses that. That voice sounds soprano, not even mezzo. And yes, Natalie Stutzmann and Ewa Podles (rip😢) are true contraltos, since their speaking voice are so low to begin with. I'm a bit fed up with misleading voice classifications. Contraltos sound androgynous almost manlike.
Amazing woman, incredible singer-a delightful interview!
Maureen was humble, smart, witty and loving. And very successful!
❤ RIP Maureen ❤

Solid Mike McManus interview. Forrester is a Canadian gem, but so is McManus.
"Singing is easy for me."
A great singer but never a contralto. Speaks like a dramatic soprano...

Obviously, you’ve never heard Régine Crespin speak if this logic holds.
@@chrisbean She was, in my opinion, a Lyric Contralto. Voix lumineuse.
