    Finally ..nice to see final grade being done in prep for seed....that's gonna look real good.
    Great idea putting in a food plot right there next to the house. Should make a fab draw for some rockin chair wildlife viewing

    I see your plan of adding a feed plot to entice wildlife away from the lawn (Mrs. Kappers) and enjoying their presence. ;-)

    Slowly but surely, it's getting there., Kapper. Looks good. Whatever happened to the little fawn?

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  6 років тому

      I just got video of the fawn yesterday or the day before and it's with Mom now. I don't know if she's still dropping it off during the day or not but so far it's made it!

    not saying it to be critical or saying you have to video it when you first try , but, try making a start on using your bucket whilst you use your blade as you push the soil around.use your feet on your pedals to move forwards / backwards set your blade to roughly the level youre wanting to push through at ( again this will take a little time to get spot on ) and as you travel forwards you can then either grab some soil from one side or other of where you are travelling or you can push some away to one side or the other.
    once you start getting used to working both controls at the same time you can then keep your bucket to just one side of the blade and if for example youre using a grading bucket which generally are 3 feet or in region off on mini excavators and you use it as well as your blade then you can nearly double up the area of ground you are levelling off in one go. ie, blades roughly 4 feet wide so with the bucket either pushing out soil or if in reverse dragging soil you can cover around a 7 ft strip in one go.
    if you do attempt this i well let you know in advance that your bucket controls will automatically become more responsive as the pumps when tracking put out more pressure, so you can expect to only need to give around half the normal input into the controls to move the arm in / out / up / down / left or right.
    i would suggest initially not to work to much on bring the arm in and out when you first try this way but just work on fine tuning little up and down and left and right movements, im not saying this is something you will nail in quick time it does take experience and also knowing having used plenty of bobcats that the arm controls in particular that they can be quite jerky if operating on or near max power.
    rome wasnt built in a day, but, thats not to say you cant try and if you give it a go your time spent in learning will be reaped back in time saved down the line when it comes to grading jobs, time you can save doing any such jobs can only be beneficial to you with how much tractor work youre going to be facing doing rough cut mowing alone let alone further planting projects you do seasonal.

    Hey kapper, have you ever considered planting a few persimmon or pear trees near your food plots?

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  6 років тому

      We have a lot of them naturally ocurring, but I've never planted them myself. Good idea though, I should add it to my 2nd or 3rd tier layer of improvements as continually work at it. thanks.

    All that awesome work you are doing is making me HUNGRY. Where in the back yard is your mega-BBQ grill/cooker and fire pit? I would like a large porterhouse steak med rare with some potato and onions cooked out when I get to come and visit. yuummm

    The videos I’ve seen of your pond(s) they look murky all the time. Any plans for some solar powered aerators? I realize there is no need if you don’t plan to stock it. Looking better all the time. Is the excavator a better choice than the tractor with a box blade for leveling? Maybe time to put “Kapperzilla” to work.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  6 років тому +1

      yeah I think I"m going to put an aerator in. but until we get a damn lawn, the crazy rains keep bringing silt in.... This is just nuts.... rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain.........................
      and more rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Kapper when you need to dig at an angle, like you were doing at the end with the sand just use the blade to lift the end of the machine up to the same angle, or if you like new toys buy a tilt grading bucket.
    keep up the good work.

    What are the widths of the buckets you have for the excavator? And do you add anything to your pond to deter the bugs?

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  6 років тому +1

      24", 36" and a 52" ditch bucket (aka grave digger). No, nothing added to the pond. thanks
