Malachi 3:16-18 King James Version (KJV)
16 Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.
17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
Malachi 3:16-18 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
16 Then those who feared the Lord talked often one to another; and the Lord listened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who reverenced and worshipfully feared the Lord and who thought on His name.
17 And they shall be Mine, says the Lord of hosts, in that day when I publicly recognize and openly declare them to be My jewels (My special possession, My peculiar treasure). And I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.
18 Then shall you return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who does not serve Him.

Yes, yes. We need to always remember God loves you and me and us. If we hate self we hate others. To be kind and gentle with self leads toward kindness to others. Many times we are not aware of how condemning we are to self. As Orthodox or Catholic or atheist or whatever we do no good to ourselves or to our relation to God by thinking this way. Thanks be to God for his love!

Maybe, if some people's idea of religion wasn't self centered. They could enter into the fellowship of Christ, be set free from their doubts, fears, and dissimulation. Have all their needs meet by the Church, so that there was no place for temptation to dominate. Yes, it does take an attitude of humility to enter in. It is the children of pride that go to hell.

Father please help me. I'm ignorant in many things, but each day I worship God. What little religious and spiritual teachings I've had have come from the protestant world. I'm feeling moved to seek out the Orthodox faith, and I will be attending my first liturgy as a visitor this Sunday 1.7.24 My question regards prayer. I've come to pray multiple times a day, but I direct all my prayers to God the Father, but it seems like I should also be praying to and communing with Jesus and with the Holy Spirit in prayer, but not sure if that is what God calls us to do. I want to follow His will in all things, and I also want to give worship and adoration to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I trust you completely, please give me guidance as your time and schedule allow. I'll also look thru your library of videos to see if you already have addressed this question. Thank you Father.

What makes one so certain it is the Apple and not the Fig to which Christ cursed? or the Olive? or some other fruit that no longer even exists, chopped down and flushed away by the great flood?
Note: The internet has become somewhat akin to the fruit of knowledge of all evil and of all good.
While it also of worthy note that Jesus Christ; his truth, his way is the fruit of everlasting Life.

5:10 an interesting Bit i Personally would not completely define it by the church Teachings though as what if the Church itself had been corrupted.
Id rather follow Martin Luthers argumentation against the sovereignity of interpretation by the churchman alone, though of course bending the words to reveal a Message much different. this of great Importance as throughout History and especially in modern TIme the church itself delved into Sin either directly committed by the worldly leaders of the Church or by advocating it.

    • @sergeantsharkseant
      @sergeantsharkseant Рік тому

I of course come from a Western Church perspective though with all due respect and Knowledge, i would doubt the easern churches fared much better.
it is quite interesting listening to your Preachings, as i can see much common ground to true Catholicism and Protestantism. In the End we are all Christains.

Hi Father, before everything else, I just want to thank you for your teachings. They helped me a lot in my Christian life. However, recently, I cannot help but feel depressed regarding the story of Genesis. I have this hard-to-swallow conclusion that life here on Earth is God's punishment on humanity. In other words, life is a curse. Life was only made possible because Adam and Eve disobeyed God. And if this is the case, then would it not be better that we do not procreate so that the unborn souls would remain with God instead of coming here on Earth and having a flesh that is corrupted? Please help to correct me if I am wrong. I am deeply troubled by this. I want to view life as a blessing from God and not as a curse. My knowledge on the Bible so far has lead me to this conclusion. Perhaps, someone like yourself could enlighten me with a different perspective. Please share your guidance, Father.

The true temptation is a lust for Life! And the only thing that can satisfy man's thirst for life is the Person of God himself ! The Spirit of the Lord is the one who fills us with God's grace and abundance!

I didn't even mention sin ! I said the greatest temptation is a lust for Life! The flesh of a man was created to be satisfied with God's life ! The Devil will use the design of man to tempt them knowing that man needs life and will offer man life through the flesh!!

If we gather the whole humanity up to this point, with all the wise, philosophers, scientists etc and ask them to come up with three temptations in order for Christ to sin, I tell you that the result would have been far inferior to the original. Those three temptations mattered not only in this specific moment, but also for all the years to come, even to this day and so on. Christ came to earth with a promise of a freedom that we couldn't even understand. And as Dostoyevsky wrote in his last book "Brothers Karamazov", "What kind of freedom would have been, if it could be bought with bread alone?"

George Ibrahim Which Sins Are mortal? What is a mortal sin?

    • @georgeibrahim7945
      @georgeibrahim7945 5 років тому

Football 123 Sin is an offense against Almighty God. Three conditions are necessary for mortal sin to exist:
•Grave Matter: The act itself is intrinsically evil and immoral. …
•Full Knowledge: The person must know that what they’re doing or planning to do is evil and immoral. …
•Deliberate Consent: The person must freely choose to commit the act or plan to do it.
It is not easy to commit a mortal sin. If one of the conditions is not fully met, then, if it is an offense, it is a venial sin.

There are specific prayers to help us overcome temptations , not even the Saints teach us those prayers , we know all the stories, except how to be protected this is what upsets me, we just hear all the stories upon stories , we want solutions and there are solutions, i expected these so called holy men to pronounce them, but they dont. I tell you here, In the name I Am That I AM i call upon Archangel Michael to protected me with his sword of blue flame right here right now in the name of Jesus Christ i except it done Amen. There are seven Archangels and they are all very specific in their tasks to mankind, but they can only do something when we ask due to our free will no one can do anything until asked. and it only lasts 24 hours, then it has to be repeated.

I believe it is. What ever has control over our actions is bad for us. All bad habits and addictions. I know how hard it is to stop, but be persistant. Don't give up! We all have demons that prey on us.

May God rebuke you Mr Spyridon - You have instructed people to Pray to the Angels. - This is clearly heresy - I have been enjoying your teaching they have been encouraging but I was concern to hear this. Also Its says not to cover your head if your a man and you pray - Women are meant to cover there head. The Faith of the Centurion is to except all scripture without compromise.

"We must interpret the Scriptures by Church tradition". Sorry Father Spyridon, but the church fathers were not infallible. They made some basic errors when interpreting the Scriptures, especially the Hebraic apocalyptic language (eg. Matthew 26, 64) which is to be interpreted symbolically. They interpreted the Scriptures through the Hellenistic mindset (they took certain verses literally). This happens to be a fact that modern day Bible scholars agree with. The Hebraic mindset the Scriptures were written in was lost in the interpretation.

The Scriptures were written in Greek - New Testament .
The Old Testament of which our Lord Jesus Christ spoke was from the SEPTUGIANT- translated by Greek speaking Jews - all in seperate places but ONE TRUTH -
Tradition is within the CHURCH- for it was the CHURCH that gave us the Bible - LOGOS of God

The Hebrew Old Testament has a few versus taken out ?
Which if one was to read them there is confusion- unlike the Old Testament of which Orthodox use -
The Orthodox Witness. One very interesting question, never asked, is this: "If scholars are willing to assemble an eclectic text out of Scripture fragments from various sources - often of unknown doctrinal origin or authority - why haven"t they ever considered the living archeological evidence of Scripture segments that have been repeated faithfully for ages in the Orthodox Liturgy?"
Why haven"t serious modern scholars considered the incredible coincidence that 72 Hebrew scholars could all translate the Old Testament in exactly the same manner into the Septuagint Greek?
Why haven"t they examined the translation of the Scriptures done a thousand years ago from Greek into Slavonic, which has preserved exactly, accurately, and precisely the meaning of the Greek original? And, more to the point, if errors have crept in and accumulated as texts were copied over the years, why aren"t the existing copies of these Greek and Slavonic Scriptures divergent?

That's not the point I'm making. Yes, the New Testament was written in Greek, but crucially it was written according to the Hebraic mindset (the Hebraic way of thinking). An example is with Matthew 26, 64. This is verse is Hebraic symbolic language taken from the book of Daniel. It does not mean Jesus will be floating on a cloud in the sky, which is what the church fathers thought. "To come on the clouds of heaven" (Matthew 26, 64) is Hebraic apocalyptic language meaning to come SPIRITUALLY in judgement, using a foreign army to pass that judgement. This was obviously 70 AD when the Son of Man returned (in the Spirit) and used the Romans to pass judgement on apostate Jerusalem when the temple was demolished. The church fathers misinterpreted this verse, and many others, as a physical second coming in the distant future. The Hebraic symbolic nature of many verses like this were misinterpreted by the church fathers who took these verses literally, using the Hellenistic mindset (meaning to take certain verses literally).

The Church Fathers as you call them, the Holy Fathers of our One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church who interpreted certain chapters and verses from the Holy Gospels were living Saints, that performed miracles, raising the dead, healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind among many other things. So these people were under the influence of the Holy Spirit when interpreting these passages. Now of course only God is without sin, but when under the direction of the All Holy Spirit, which is God, their interpretation is completely correct. Now you, friend may not understand or believe this to be true, and that is your right to do so and your misfortune. But you will forgive me if I believe the interpretation of The Holy miracle working Fathers over ANY modern scholars and your good self. Unless of course you are a living Saint, miracle worker and in the name of the living God can raise the dead and heal any manner of sickness, have power over the elements, then I humbly apologize and ask your forgiveness.
      God bless.
