When I began physical and mental suffering many years ago, I was already praying, but turned to Christ even more and asked the Blessed Mother of God for assistance every day (nowadays, I also ask St. Joseph for help.) I also went to confession more frequently. Through suffering, which is a cross to bear, and letting Christ use my suffering to save souls, I’ve grown with increasing love for Jesus. Suffering is a mystery, but at the same it can be used to detach oneself from the things of this world and draw closer to Christ. One must not ask “why” is suffering happening. I find there is no answer to that question. Better to ask, what must I do. And remember that Jesus also suffered on the cross! His suffering was redemptive. Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me a poor and weak sinner.

We’re not weak we are fallen. The strength is within us all and the Lord is the answer to bring out that strength in our lives. His will and not of our own will bring us to peace through suffering. I wish I understood that many many years ago. But everything is in god’s plan so I don’t look back in disappointment anymore. All in God’s perfect timing will his work be done within us!
I'm from Ethiopia .please father pray for us .more than 50% in our country is Orthodox .we are suffering because of our religion and nation. Please pray for us
We have some Ethiopian Orthodox people in my church, which is Greek Orthodox. We will pray for you. Orthodox Christians everywhere are my brothers and sisters.
@johanneshartman4618 The verse you are quoting (Matthew 23:9) is not meant to be interpreted literally. The next verse says to not call anyone a teacher, which would make no sense considering there are many Christian school teachers. Additionally, Saint Paul refers to himself as being the father of the Christians in Corinth (1 Corinthians 4:14-15).
You have a very shallow mind when it comes to understanding language. The Bible was written thousands of years ago and interpreted from ancient Hebrew, Greek, and other language. The term "Father" in English is not used in a worshiping manor when addressing a priest. Catholics understand the difference between a Church Father and our "Holy Heavenly Father" Protestants use language as a weapon to attack fellow Christians. May God forgive us ALL of our sins and bring us to everlasting life, Amen. @johanneshartman4618
I have a nagging sore throat right now. There is this awful feeling inside me that blames God. Given this wisdom, now I may bare this suffering in humility. Lord have mercy on me!
My husband and I are trying to get out of the UK as it is becoming worse and worse here for Christians. People are being arrested for street preaching, bibles are taken out of schools and the churches are fallen. Children as young as 9 are being 'taught' explicit sexual things IN SCHOOLS, and sodomy taught to boys. We want to move to Greece where we feel the Christian faith is very strong, especially on some of the islands. Islam is completely taking over the country, and crimes by Muslims are going unpunished and becoming rife. If you speak out, you are accused of being racist, but it's only truth. We pray for the Lord to help us leave this country. God bless and thank you.
Sorry Jane. I speak as a Greek from Cyprus, and can say with certainty that you will be sorely disappointed if you think Greece is any better than the UK. In many respects, it is far worse. Nominally Orthodox, but in reality apostasy is rife. The government there, as here in Cyprus is controlled by the Americans and the same depraved spirit infects every aspect of life. If you are looking for a place that still retains a soul and any semblance of what was once 'normal', then the only place to look is to Russia - as hard a pill as that may be for you British to swallow.
Brazil has many problems. Especially economy and urban violence. But definitely it is a safe place for christian faith. Of course there is a spiritual battle on course, but virtually I feel safe here to express my faith.
No place is safe. Again, there is NO SAFE PLACE. Make your own home in the UK a holy haven for yourself and your family. God bless you. Sally from the USA.
Father bless, I’ve had the same feeling lately as the young monastic who in his grief and confusion was tempted to leave the holy life. My only son and oldest child age 23, who was very dear to me, died in a car accident four months ago. Knowing that God allowed it to happen after a lifetime of trying (repeatedly and often failing) to follow Him shook my faith. That the car accident happened two days after my youngest was born (and the very night our newborn was airlifted for emergency surgery for an unrelated medical issue) has left me beyond hurt and confused. My son was not perfect, he struggled with sin like me. He wanted what was good and right and often pleased us with his genuine love of God and pursuit of good things. But sometimes, like his parents, he missed the mark. Our last six weeks together were very troubled. In shame he confessed that he too was expecting a baby. He was not married but was trying to repent and salvage what he could. After four months I’ve come to the very conclusions you outlined in your video. I cannot judge God’s ways. I have to try to make peace living the rest of my life without our beautiful boy, and accept the great pain our family is in, while continuing to struggle against sin. We pray continually for the son and brother we miss terribly, hoping that in God’s eyes our dear departed one is more akin to the monk than the harlot (though we did give him as beautiful a funeral as possible). God have mercy on us. Of your charity, Father Spyridon and brothers and sisters in Christ, please pray for the departed servant of God, Jack, known in the church as John (patron John the theologian).
Thank you for sharing your story. May God give you strength. God bless you and your family. I will add Jack to my prayer list. My fathers name was John, but went by Jack as well.
When I was feeling melancholic and lonely, asking God why He only watches me and does not help me, I got to have one of the absolute worst days, which ended up destroying my entire week schedule... Suffering like an experiment-hamster... Like, I know, I voluntarily chose this hard path as a 17 year old young man, but why this much more suffering than expected?... But then...I get a recommandation from Father Spyridon with the title of "Why we need to suffer". And he gives my suffering a reason. God bless this man! 💙☦️
Amen, I struggle everyday the temptation I face it's as if I gave in to it I became so weak but from now on I want to trust God when we turn our life towards Christ life sort of becomes harder which shows it is the truth
Father Spyridon thank you. I am looking into orthodoxy, waiting for the local orthodox priest to come back from holiday to discuss attending my first liturgy and I've now been struck with a chest infection. I am angry and despairing, so I needed to hear this, a reality check and a call to repentance. Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me.
Please don't despair. The enemy attacked me with several ailments and accidents when I was converting to Orthodoxy... even a fractured pelvis. It has been a spiritual battle. I prayed for strength. That was 9 years ago. 🙂
Don't be discouraged! God will walk with you along the way if you can hear the still small voice that the prophet Elijah heard. God is not in the storm, don't let the storm distract you and God be with you, Sarah. Praying and rooting for you!

Thank you father, this has helped me with some resentments and envy towards some people and organizations in the Church. I've always held to the fact that even if the devil has been involved then our Lord has allowed this for some greater good. OUR SAVIOR IS SO AMAZING, I PRAYED A PRAYER YESTERDAY ABOUT THIS SAME SUBJECT AND RAN ACROSS THIS VIDEO TODAY IT'S LIKE HE ANSWERED MY PRAYER BEFORE I PRAYED IT SIMPLY AMAZING
Thank you Father Spyridon I've always thought about this subject Thank you for putting this message so I can understand what is and what it really means.
Matthew 11:28-30Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
My rebellion against a world of endless cruelty is meditation on my Lord Jesus Christ, the Theotokos, and the Saints. Lord have mercy and forgive my trespasses.❤❤❤
[1Co 4:15 KJV] 15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet [have ye] not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. γεννάω gennáō, ghen-nah'-o; from a variation of G1085; to procreate (properly, of the father, but by extension of the mother); figuratively, to regenerate:-bear, beget, be born, bring forth, conceive, be delivered of, gender, make, spring.(Blue Letter Bible) @johanneshartman4618
Father thank you for sharing your wisdom. Before i was baptized Orthodox. .as a Protestant i did not understand your teaching. I was arrogant and proud and cruel. Please forgive me Father. My name is Michael and i need your forgiveness. Father please bless.
Father. Some people have a really really harsh time. Some struggle to even survive while others have it all. So I understand if someone in that position gets frustrated. I personally know men over 35 years old who have never been hugged and live in solitude. Imagine that. How can they love God that they don't see when they haven't learned to love the ones that they can see. It's cruel
@johanneshartman4618 The Holy Bible is a whole, well connected and coherent text not just a random collection of verses and citations. Cherry picking and proof-texting while overlooking the context is a very dangerous approach. So my advice to you is "Don't be literal and legalistic". You know very well that it has nothing to do with idolatry. It's a title. Otherwise, you wouldn't even call your earthly father with such a title, or your 4th grade teacher as teacher, or your president as "leader". That's why protestants will never be able to fully understand Christ and christianity.
When I began physical and mental suffering many years ago, I was already praying, but turned to Christ even more and asked the Blessed Mother of God for assistance every day (nowadays, I also ask St. Joseph for help.) I also went to confession more frequently. Through suffering, which is a cross to bear, and letting Christ use my suffering to save souls, I’ve grown with increasing love for Jesus. γεννάω gennáō, ghen-nah'-o; from a variation of G1085; to procreate (properly, of the father, but by extension of the mother); figuratively, to regenerate:-bear, beget, be born, bring forth, conceive, be delivered of, gender, make, spring.(Blue Letter Bible)

Some western translations of the Lord’s Prayer also use “deliver us from the evil one”, for instance the NIV and the NRSV.

Father spyridon thank you amen. Acts 2:38
Wow ...Yesterday I wrote Acts 2:38 on my Facebook page ...I had a sudden feeling to post it .
@johanneshartman4618 touvlo
It's cruel
Never hugged and never felt loved? That is incredibly sad.
@@feiningerjones738 truly. Makes my faith tremble.
@@giorgiogiorgetti3939 yeah that's nailing it far as I can tell.
