its the fact that caitlyn DOES NOT CARE ABOUT BRANDS so she holds all the clothing pieces to the same standard not thinking about items worth but the design.
I agree, her style may not be my style but this is where we agree 100%
Yes, I could tell in part 1 how much Alex *does* care about the brands in a borderline irrational way, there were a couple of times she wasn’t into something until she checked the label to remind herself who made it and suddenly wanted to keep it. Hoarding vibes. I think Kaitlyn is a good influence on her in that regard!

I love the dichotomy of Lucy's decision making process in this versus Caitlin's. It's "Hmm, she has a nicer duplicate of this. She said once that she doesn't like this style anymore in dresses." Versus "I hate this! This is terrible! HEINOUS!!!" Lolololol 🤣🤣
I’m not sure if Caitlin is like this too but what’s funny for me is that generally I am so considerate about other people’s feeling that I actually needed to work on reducing it but when it comes to something like this, all of that goes out of the window and it’s just my opinions unfiltered 😂

It makes me so angry when expensive/designer clothes have poor quality or in general if they just slap their logo on a cheap t-shirt and call it a day especially after learning more about how many steps and people from growing the cotton on the fields to sewing the piece together

Yes and her honesty pushed Alex to realize that she’s hoarding because of her anxiety and should start to only buy things that she will really wear and not buy because it’s a designer brand, it’s a bargain or what not. Seing Alex much more decisive, direct and not so caught up in her hoarding anxiety is really refreshing, she’s letting go of her burdens and start to shine brightly ! ☺️

I agree completely with Caitlin, just because it's LV or channel doesn't mean it's good. You should love it because it feels good to wear and makes you happy regardless of the brand
Knowing Caitlyn is a graphic designer really puts this in context actually. The one class in university I took from a graphic design professor really instilled in me the philosophy of getting rid of things, not getting attached to ideas, iterating, simplifying, making quick aesthetic judgements, etc.
I love how brutal but kind she is. Very much "You are beautiful but this is gross." It's so lovely to see. I want her to know that we value her interpretations :)

Yeees Caitlyn!!! The video with her going through your dresses was the solidifying factor of me realizing we are almost the same person. Lmao “so many people disagreed with me” I agreed with literally everything. Yuuuuss and a sponsorship!! “You can’t pee in that” and aggressively putting it on the rack was so funny. MULLET SHIRT can’t wait for Alex to lose it when she sees everything Caitlyn pulled. Yup I knew Alex would freak. Ok here’s my thought, Alex you care a lot about name’s and brands, you like to keep things just because they are a certain brand. I def feel like you should only keep things you’re going to wear, not just because it’s a high end name. Does it actually spark joy? Or does it spark high end recognition points?
Yes, yes, yes! Who cares if it's vintage this or that, or if you paid waaaay too much for a basic piece of clothing because it's a brand. If you've never worn it, still with tags in some cases, then it's a waste of money and space. Like, buy designer if you want BUT get pieces that you'd actually get use of!

Caitlyn has a point. It's not the brand or price that matters, it's the quality/feel of the material and how good it actually looks on you.
lmao caitlyn saying her decisions won't be based on aesthetics and immediately pronouncing things awful. but seriously, i think a lot of us need that friend who gets ruthless with decluttering/cleaning. you may not agree with all their choices, but it's good to get that perspective when you might be holding onto stuff you'd actually be fine getting rid of.
Whilst I understand Caitlyn's (sorry if that is the incorrect spelling) perspective about practicality and not caring about brands, it's also fine to be a fan of designer and high fashion as well. There's such a vast history to it and fundamentally it's a form of art. I do agree though that Alex had far too many impractical pieces here to the point where a lot were just wasting space, so it was probably useful to have such a harsh perspective.

Some people say it's an investment? Like, a specific design is usually once in a lifetime, so if you keep it in good to pristine conditions, it will appreciate in value.
I don't see the point. You buy clothing to use it. If you only bought it because you might sell it later at a higher price and not because you enjoy wearing it, why spend the money at all?
The 'squeeze and see if it makes a skin peeling off leather sound' test is definitely something I employ in my own culls 🤣

I think I prefer Lucy's approach, as she took more of Alex's style and what Alex likes into consideration, whereas Caitlyn seemingly got rid of stuff she didn't like. It was pretty epic watching all the clothes getting squeezed onto that rack though. 😆 Can't wait to see what Bec does!
