Great job man!!! I love the idea of using the mind storm ultrasonic sensor.(I actually have one myself as well) Why not use a leap motion sensor for hand tracking? Also, how about a gyro mouse(you can find them on Amazon or eBay) for headtracking. These are just some more ideas that may improve your project.(and may make it look better) Thanks for your time and keep doing what you do!!!:)
With hololens 2 emulator, it can now support proper vr headsets, so it is possible to make put a screen into the holopatch and gyroscope. Also, you could take a look at the leap motion sensor. It lets you use your hands in vr and kinect studio to scan a room for positional tracking
Hey man this is great but just as in idea could you reflect a small screen onto a peace of glass to make the hologram and also is it possible to run the emulator on a raspberry piano where you can be wireless and you could use a gyroscope mouse as head tracking
I mean I think that this has potential. If you have like a mini screen instead of a phone and a little gyroscope/accelerometer and had a live feed from like an engine it could legitimately be a good product. Think about placing video screens around and an ultrasonic sensor judges how far you are when you loom directly into the screen and there by make the screens change size
probably someone can adapt this hololens virtual machine to steam VR to work with the HTC Vive, and we can use RiftCat to interact better with this software, we could also use PSMove service to add positional tracking and move around the room, and with a leap motion and it's steam VR drivers interact with the software
I think I got a better idea, what if you get a pocket computer like the GPDwin and install the emulator to it, then have a gyroscope imu like the quanum 3 axis to have head tracking, and have something like the leap motion to map hand gestures to keyboard keys, this could potentially be a semi functional fully self contained hololens, the big price could be 400 dollars for the GPDwin, the Quanum 3 axis, and the Leap Motion, but it is WAY cheaper than the 3000 dollar price of the hololens development kit, you'll be saving 2600 dollars
I don't see what's the big complain of installing the emulator, when I did it on my computer it was a no brainer, I just installed Visual studio and the emulator, there was nothing complicated
I held a camera to the holopatch and used a screen recorder to record the holograms on my computer screen , then later in editing i overlay-ed the recorded image and decreased its transparency. Hope that helps!! I use power director 13 BTW.
+HB Ninja I planned to do this by getting the hologram to atomaticly overlay a video stream of my Sony action cam on my head and have that show up I the headset and use the vive motes to emulate hands
I don't see why that wouldn't work! And to answer your previous question what I see with the holopatch is an optical illusion from one eye seeing the screen and one eye seeing the real world but based on how you described your solution that might work if you have the right software to stream with.

the new asus zenfone ar has all the cameras you need to scan your room...
Can I buy it for $2,900?
Best and the only best diy hololens video!!! Thanks Bro
Though if we had a more electronically based ultrasonic sensor i could find that doesnt cost $500-$700 for a kit
Wow, amazing! Can you share all the codes needed in a Google Drive shared folder?
So is there a way that you can set it up to play any game on a Google cardboard? I would love that
4:23: why your one of the best UA-camrs I know.
It was a moment of weakness.
*STRENGTH!

For the HoloPatch, I can't get hyper-v because it needs windows 10 pro, so can you guys link some iPhone apps that will work with the HoloPatch?
