"If you ever need proof of human gullibility, cast your mind back to the attack of the flesh-eating bananas. niels smits Well that can be debatable, Christians (especially Catholic) believe that there is an ark because there's a story in the Bible about it. However, this belief varies in different religions and atheists (non-religious) likely believe that there was no ark

James Gordon you can't say something is debatable is there's no evidence for one side (that it didn't exist), doesn't matter if people think it's true

Hebii Well maybe not debatable but what I'm trying to say is that some believe that there is an ark because of the info in the Bible while atheists who likely don't believe in the Bible say that there is no ark

that depends the way the question is asked, imagine someone ask you how many rings Sauron distribute to the men? will you really answer that there were never any rings?
and when you have to resume the story of a book, do you say: nothing happened, it is all fake.

I think of Fox, Breitbart, and other conservative news organizations. They are all by far the most bias. So-called liberal news outlets actually don't report bias news, compared to conservative news organizations which consistently rank among the most bias, like Fox and Breitbart who have idiotic brainwashed viewers.

90% of what we watch, listen to and read is owned by 6 companies. That’s a large percentage to just be divided by a factor of six. 30 years ago 90% of media was held by 50 different companies, which is what most people would assume it would be now, but thanks to mergers and buyouts, it’s down to 6 major companies (until someone else buys another). The reason we never find anything new on TV is that 70% of what is on cable is owned by the ‘Big 6.’ That’s 1 out of every 5 hours of television. Comcast now owns 51% of NBC, while GE owns 49% (even though the infographic states that GE owns Comcast), further controlling the market with a top cable provider and a top cable channel.
Here is another infographic depicting how much of the market the Bilderberg Grouphas an impact on by letting these major corporations network with each other. If you aren’t sure what the Bilderberg Group is, it’s an annual, unofficial, invitation-only gathering, where powerful companies meet and discuss the current happenings.

Lately the censorship is blatantly obvious. Their algorithms aren't yet perfected enough to drown out EVERYTHING which is effective at calling them out on their own games. In turn that would make the engine ineffective at searching for what you are looking for and they would start losing too much market share in the search engine world. It still needs a level of reliability to be credible.

bksst I'm not good at debating but I'll try to elaborate. I think that WikiLeaks exposes some unfortunate insights into processes of the Democratic parties offiliates. Instead of focusing on this important content we're stormed with fake news awareness pieces and Russia blaming pieces. Im not sure what the media would do next to divert our attention from this content. Hopefully that explains my viewpoint better. With all due respect I don't think its bs.

    • @bksst
      @bksst 7 років тому

Jason Shannon - I appreciate your attempt at rational discourse which is uncommon with people sharing your particular set of opinions. I have to respectfully disagree. It's been proven by our intelligence agencies, even the FBI which seem to back Trump in several instances, that Russia was involved in both a hacking and propaganda campaign against the DNC. That is why they blame Russia. Fake news created by a hostile/foreign government has been exposed and it influenced many gullible/angry constituents. This has never happened in the US and you request the media to stop covering it? You ask we focus on this important content that was hacked but they covered everything they could find but there wasn't much there. Meanwhile, we have a president that wont take the most basic step of releasing his taxes (like all presidents have been doing for a very long time).
Look at all the controversies involving Trump/Republicans and thats before any hacked information is released but here you are requesting the DNC reform itself. Thats where my BS comment comes from.

Fantastic. "Gullible" has been in my political lexicon for a while now. Thanks for using it. Keep in mind we are not all created equal. And while we _might_ have a level playing field of predisposition to a certain trait or behavior, these can be changed over time. For example, a more cosmopolitan person is going to have a more well honed attention to deception and indications of trickery, those from small town or village, will not have had the same accumulated exposure to these signs, or tells, that time and experience provides in shorter time, simply from the number of new persons he or she is being presented with. Hometowners, or heartlanders, live in a much slower interaction pace, so fewer opportunities to learn about, and adjust to, fakers, liars, cheaters, etc. This is exactly how president #45 was selected. They were gullible and did not see the traits and behaviors in #45 that instills in the more experience brain a feeling of absolute dread. There is only one thing we need to know about that man, and that is his psychological profile.

  • @ashfaqueazad3897

One of the major reasons for gullibility is bias: most of the time we share fake news knowing it is fake; we want others to fall for it as we want truth or facts to be democratic: the more people believe in them the truer it would look. One of the lousy arguments you'd get to hear is "so many people believe in them, do you think all are mad?"

6 Every animal that parts the hoof, and has the hoof split in two and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat.
7 Nevertheless these you shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of those who have the hoof split: the camel, the hare, and the rabbit. Because they chew the cud but don’t part the hoof, they are unclean to you.
8 The pig, because it has a split hoof but doesn’t chew the cud, is unclean to you. You shall not eat their meat. You shall not touch their carcasses.
And then the text goes on to talk about birds and fish and such and which of those are clean and unclean. But most likely Noah was bringing in his farm animals and some of the local wildlife, I don't think the fish and eagles needed Noah's help, and I doubt there as an aquarium on the Ark anyway.

The only news you can really trust is local news. There isn't really any reason for there to be any bias around it.Most of the time its just reporting weather and people getting incarcerated though.

Seeker should do a segment on what the hell is up with all these flat-earth conspiracy people. I thought it was a total joke at first but no, there's a crazy amount of people who genuinely believe it now!

Cultural bias occurs when people of a culture make assumptions about conventions, including conventions of language, notation, proof and evidence. They are then accused of mistaking these assumptions for laws of logic or nature. Numerous such biases exist, concerning cultural norms for color, location of body parts, mate selection, concepts of justice, linguistic and logical validity, acceptability of evidence, and taboos.
Such as believing the entire internet to be Christians and expecting them to understand the differences between Moses and Noah.

At 11.30 pm on 31st Dec 1999 I rang the Metropolitan Police information line and asked: Is it the Millennium tomorrow? The reply was "No". When is the Millennium? "Jan 1st 2001 ... but 99% of people believe its tomorrow. It's best to go along with it".

A few days later I placed a sandwch board in a prominent position in Hampstead, London, which read WE ARE STILL IN THE 20TH CENTURY (all the newspapers were saying tbat the 21st had begun). I asked passers by if they agreed with my sign ... nobody would talk to me. They looked at me as if I was mad. The Millennium was the biggest mass brainwashing the world has ever known.

In August 1999 I'd rung the BBC and asked a supervisor when the Millennium was. She said: "1st Jan 2001". When I asked her why the BBC was telling people it was 1st Jan 2000 she said: "We've got government permission."

Our brains accept information in chunks: i.e. if you wave a long ruler over a home movie projection, our brains will fill in the gaps and end up processing it all as if we were looking at it on a white wall. The same with our television sets (especially the old CRT boob tubes)- the screen is filled by lines: odd numbers first; starts at the top again with even numbers. This process is so fast, our brains process it as one solid screen until you watch a news program when they show someone watching television... the screen violently flickers.
My point is here--that is how our brains accept information. When we are not fully 100% concentrating on the actual event (in which we all do about all the time), we lose things in our short-term memory; hence, mismatch information as you have proven in your example. This in itself has nothing to do with intelligence due to the fact, anyone can be fooled by our brains.
