- In his election manifesto, he had spelt them out as his top priorities and now after having taken over as Sri Lanka’s President, Gotabaya Rajapaksa has a vision on how to go about things. Security and economy are my top priorities, he told Nitin A. Gokhale, Editor-in-Chief of BharatShakti.in and SNI, in his first interview after assuming office. Pointing out slippages in the security structure under the earlier regime that led to the ghastly Easter bombings in April this year, the man who played a key role in strategising the war that ultimately led to the defeat of the LTTE terrorist group, believes intelligence gathering has to be streamlined and each agency involved in the process should be given a clear role and authority. He has a roadmap for the economy as well-play to your strengths, build on your core competencies and leverage technology.

I find nitin gokhale very good interviewer otherwise. But in this video and in the other part of the same interview I found him not enough respectful of a head of state. Trying to put words in his mouth and even trying to patronising him.

It seems like with the lessons learned from 2015 defeat new rajapaksha government may back track from China. If they know how to play the card correctly they may find some support from western power who were hostile to them in past.
It's kinda sad how not a single media station in SL was able to do detailed interview like this BUT I'm not happy how Nitin Conduct the interview today. Why are you keep helping him to answer the questions you asked? As a journalist you should know better..

@Blogger Ash Don't misunderstand me, Nitin is a good journalist with a reputation. Yes he did asked the right questions from the right person and he should not intervene to the answers. Thats all I'm saying..
Yea there are some problems regarding media freedom in sri lanka. But we do have great and brave journalists who work independently. unfortunately their work is not so popular in mass media.
@@revelvotolols7746 Come on.. Gotabaya was an army officers who got few training opportunities in all overthe world. And then he moved to U.S.A and spend 12 years using english as his main language. Then he became the secretary of the ministery of defense. If he still needs help with english theres a big problem.
The questions were all goody goody stuff. Not BBC's Hard Talk type questions about HR violations etc. If Nitin asked probing questions Gota would have kicked his bum and asked him to sort out Kashmir first.
