Sorry you had a Underwhelming experience, I stood in line for over 4 hours and it was frigid and brutal. I did see the Pizza delivery while on line. However I met Ace in 91 and actually jammed with him at a loft in NYC. Keep in mind , There was actually 1,500 people there and Ace stayed well after 5pm which was the alloted time. He wanted to ensure everyone got a autograph.. if Ace spent one minute with every fan that would equal 25 hours. I cracked couple jokes to him and He gave me a Fistbump but I understand the time constraints and a 72 year old man who uses his hand for a living signing 1,500 autographs isn't easy.
Dude that sucks Ace let you down tho im not surprised! I don't know if you dig Steve Stephens but id highly recommend going to any guitar clinic or signing ect that he may do near you. He hangs out, tells jokes & just really seems to enjoy those events & wants to make it a memorable experience for those who show up to see him.
I just discovered your channel and subbed you up, I enjoy your honest review, I mainly talk rock vinyl on my channel but I do get into some newer bands like King Gizzard, Gorillaz, and Black Pumas, on a side note I saw Gene Simmons with his solo band at a local casino, he uses the same band that Ace does on the road, thanks again for sharing your review, Peace!
I first saw KISS in 1975 at the Tower theatre in Upper Darby, PA! No pyrotechnics but an awesome concert! Plus Paul had his pants pulled down by a fan in the 1st row!
Sorry you had this bad experience. But dont feel bad. Ace had to sign a thousand autographs and he is a grumpy old dude. I live in the Netherlands, Europe. The chance for me to see this guy in the flesh is the same as visiting the moon. I would just take the autograph and get the hell out of there.
Ahh dont feel bad. You seem like a cool dude. He is a 70 year old singing about cherry medicine. That is fucking cringe. I am in my 50s and I find that cringe. Rock on dude
I think 10,000 volts, up in the sky, fighting for life, and back into my arms again are really really good. Hate u didnt have a memorable experience with Ace but if u look at all the vids of his meet and greets thro the years he looks sorta miserable doing those things. Plus hes pretty much deaf its possible he maybe just didnt hear u
As much as I'm a fan of Ace, I probably wouldn't go to a signing even if he came to my town up here near the Arctic Circle. He isn't exactly known for putting great effort into things, the interaction you described is what I would expect by default. The supposedly ironic "Fuck it." shirt doesn't really work for him... As for the album, I have only listened to the whole thing once while cooking, but it doesn't seem very good. Space Invader and Origins Vol. 1 remain the best 21st century releases he's put out.
I agree. His lyrics are cheesy af. Like a 13 year old wrote them. I think 11 tracks was too much. If he released it as a EP with only 4 or 5 songs it would have been solid
I’m sorry you had a bad experience meeting Ace. I was also inspired to play guitar by Ace and I’ve met him several times. Hit can be hit or miss but the majority of my experiences have been really good. I was on that line since around 10:30am. When I got my album signed (bubble gum like yours) Ace actually leaned back at first and looked exhausted, his team asked if he needed a break, keep in mind Ace is in he’s 70’s. He then signed my vinyl and cd and gave me a fist bump. In the past I’ve had conversations with him but those were at conventions where fans get more time. This event was only supposed to be 4 hours and I heard Ace hung around for over 6 hours. I would suggest that you don’t give up on meeting Ace again. Perhaps at a convention (I think the meet & greet is too expensive). Keep Rockim’
I'm 55 years old I've been a long time kiss fan since I can remember and I met Ace two times once way back when , he was at a local New Jersey radio station and I drove up there in 1987 and we were in the back parking lot he signed his patch on the back of my jean jacket I shook his hand there's a lot of people around he wasn't overly friendly and then I met him again at some like rock of the park in like 1990 and we talked through a fence and we talked about unmasked but he was okay then but you know no excuses for how he acted I heard a lot of people say this stuff about the Sam Ash
Good review. I was at the Sam Ash event. I appreciate you mentioning how he acted because that was how he was to me, too. I had music to give him. He wouldn’t respond but his girlfriend took the CDs I tried giving him. I was outside more than 4 hours, too. I finally had to get a small sandwich and cup of coffee because the cold weather and having no food or coffee made me feel like I almost couldn’t continue in line. If I were to go to see him again - which the chances of that happening are very close to zero - I would go to talk to his girlfriend because she was pretty cool. Ace was cool like a piece of ice in a refrigerator and not in a good way.
I saw a video of it. Looks like about half way through they made an announcement about needing to speed things up. I know it's disappointing but the guy is half deaf and had hundreds to get through. He would have been there until the next day if he chatted with people. He did seem to stop and acknowledge a small kid and got a photo with a couple of people.
I actually love the album I understand what you're saying but I still think this is awesome we're getting Ace Frehley music in 2024. He was great when I seen him two times in concert about 12 years ago but the videos online of him now is atrocious on tour
wow your top song list is similar to mine, I also did a Review for this. I agree the songs are weak & the Guitar solos are too short and lame. a Fan favorite though is Fighting for life what a great song. Cherry medicine just has that lame Ass Riff to it. ( NOT his best Album )
You're not the only one who's said the exact same thing. He never looked up at anyone and only Lara was being polite. He acted like a total jerk by all accounts.
What a horseshit comment to a legit opinion and experience. Either ignore or address the review, especially the meet/greet or don't comment fool. Clown move.
Yeah don't take it personally, because he is a Prick to many Fans he has met. the only ones he is cool to are the people interviewing him because he Knows they are giving him air time & many people will see it.
Ace has never been known for being good at meet and greets, it sounds like you are being hard on the album because of your experience meeting him and I understand that 100%. But If you like 4 songs the album doesn’t blow, meetings him blows. I had the chance to meet Ace at one of his concerts a couple of years ago, and passed, be glad you didn’t pay $300 to meet him. I like the album it’s his best since Trouble walking, but no way do I want to meet the dude. Do a Gene Simmons meet and greet, when his band tours the states(they will) Gene is awesome.
Thanks for your honesty. You've validated 2 disheartening facts about Ace and the truth behind why his solo career has never become a Rocket Ride. This album would be great if we could all climb in a DeLorean and time travel back to 1980. His music, his technique on guitar and his writing abilities have never improved over time. They have worsened. All the over produced studio magic in the world can't change bad guitar playing and horribly monotone vocals. As for your awful experience waiting hours to meet him, it makes a person wonder why after all these years with his continued griping over how his former band mates screwed him over on success and personal fortune, how poorly he was treated, and his talent never appreciated or respected that he would be absolutely thrilled that people show up for an event like this. Instead, he disrespects his fans. How absolutely disgraceful. How disappointing. It's funny how many times over the years Ace has been critical about his former band mates selling out and making a cash grab on merchandise, but isn't he doing the exact same thing. Multiple editions of the same album. Calling them limited. Calling them collectable. Truth is, Ace has always been his own worst enemy. He should take a look into the Fractured Mirror. For all his failures , there's no one else to blame but himself. He's the poster boy of what happens when alcohol, drugs and egos collide. Shameful.
@@brysonlink Keeping it honest. I respect and appreciate your integrity. Too often we read reviews that tend to be one sided, or filled with an overabundance of praise. glad ace finally got his shit together, I met him at his house back in 2002 (music biz related) he looked like a drugged out old man who was weeks away from death. His manager told us he hates gene and paul SO MUCH he turned down 1 million dollars for a single tour.
Here's something bro: ace is pretty deaf, he might not heard u,.however I'm giving him the benefit of doubt...I also met ace in 1987 and had a similar experience as you, man😊
You're claiming that the 10000 Volts album packaging is lack-luster? Have you tried looking at that Abbey Road shit packaging of that record, you have on your shirt. It has nothing and is one of the most boring albums ever. The new Ace record is pretty damn good. I think u have a case of sour grapes.
@@brysonlink Oh the shoe is on the other foot now, so you're whining. Typical. Abbey Road was shit and got mixed reviews upon it's release. Lennon even called it shit. Used to buy the music and go to the shows till ace turned Orange now a boycott his ass n yes I'm sure it does blow but I'll never know
Good review
I'm 57 years old and the Biggest fan ever
But the Album sucks and Ace has been disrespectful to fans and has been for ever
His music now is terrible and that's with studio trickery too
And I would never pay to see him again
Saw him many times but a few years ago he opened for Alice cooper who is the Best and nicest guy I've met too
Ace was horrible that night live
Sloppy , lazy
Very sad
I met Ace at a record store signing probably 30 years ago
Not a lot of fans there then and he was still an addict then ( I think he still is)
His interactions with everyone was minimal then and the only thing he said to me was when signing the poster I took that he didn't even remember taking the pictures for that poster , said I must have been out of it and laughed
I didn't find it funny , just total disappointment after me listening to kiss since I was eight years old
Kiss is the Best band Ever but I no longer respect ACE
He thinks he's such a guitar God
And at one time he was , not now and he doesn't care
Everyone needs to stop paying for these terrible performances and albums
