The CEO of netflix personally asked shonda to make queen Charlotte. I am glad he did! For me this was the best out of the 3. Also shonda didn’t write for season 1,2 and I don’t think she wrote for season 3 either so no I don’t think this affects the other shows.
After learning about what ABC did to Shonda, it has turned me into an avid fan of hers. I'm so glad Bridgerton became so big, like you said, that there was able to be a spinoff. she was the right person for the job and did not disappoint with Queen Charlotte. I'm not into period shows, but QC had me binge watching S1 and S2 of Bridgerton as well and am obsessed with all of them. I love the range of themes. Even though the ending is predictable, the build-up still had me at the edge of my seat.
You will not be disappointed with this spin-off, I tell you no lie after listening to your intro.. I too love the books and the screen adaptations because I love historical romances, where fiction blends in with facts. The wonderful leads and supporting cast in the Bridgerton Universe and acting is second to none, with every season. Queen Charlotte is a wonderful detour until POLIN season starts.
While idk if Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte share the same crew (which could affect Bridgerton) since they seem to be using different costume designers and I think the filming of both shows overlapped. I will say that Shonda's only involvement with Bridgerton is producing the show under Shondaland, so any and all choices Bridgerton did is b/c of the showrunner. So the differences we see and feel between Bridgerton and QC is b/c we're seeing how Shonda would handle this world vs. the Bridgerton showrunner in her production company.

Of course some of the changes were annoying but their dynamic was still the same and I understand why they changed it mostly. Minus getting all the way to the altar and making Edwina so stupid and ignorant

For whatever reasons she is awesome.. also they buying time... they need the actors to age up ...hyacinth and Gregory actors look really young... if shonda could keep her cast she would ..replacing cast members irks to her core... replacing Ruby Stokes already was a hit so if the spin offs could buy time and are successfully they would do it this way
Well they are the last siblings. So it would be at least 3 more years until their season they would be around 20 or 21. But I would love more spin offs. Could add a year or 2 making them 21-23.
I hope you re-watched before you went on. You had great comments but you talked over so many important or funny points I'm worried you missed stuff you'll need to know going forward.
I totally understand the concern. There’s a lot at play, copyright is a big part of commentary or talking rather than being silent during a scene. I did have subtitles on the entire time so I never missed any dialogue. Also, sometimes commentary is edited over a different scene than the one I was actually watching at the time. Regardless, I’ve since watched each episode at least 5 times and it was only small things (like a facial expression) that I missed throughout. But I totally get that it can be frustrating to be unsure about how much the person is gonna pick up!
Okay, I have to comment because it seems you and I were on the same trajectory with the starting point of Bridgerton S1. I too became gradually obsessed with it and had to try reading the books, and then never stopped - gaining a brand new hobby of avidly reading HR and beyond. I try not to think about season 2... (ugh, to fumble the ball on Anthony of all people and after *that* season 1 performance) So I was doubtful if the spin-off was even worth my time. But this show was great for me! So I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! It may not be good through and through, but the central romance and how it was acted out buoyed it to the top as my current favourite in the TV Bridgerverse. I am looking forward to watching your reactions till the end and reliving it one more time!

What I like about the Queen Charlotte and the Bridgerton books, I didn't like about the TV show. This show focuses on Queen Charlotte and Bridgerton had way too many characters that the main characters were just one of many ... By the way, I have one thing in common with you. I was not a reader at all and had never read a novel until any kind until after watching Bridgerton Season 1. I hated the script so much that I thought, no way the novel could have been written like the TV was. I, too, have read the Bridgerton novels because I like them much more than I like the TV shows.

What I like about the Queen Charlotte and the Bridgerton books, I didn't like about the TV show.
